I believe it was also the team that the experts predicted would go down the previous season.

Uke Wasn't there a team in the Prem two years ago who all the "experts" said were too good to go down?

Can't remember who it was, Fulham I think, or was it another one?

If it was Fulham then the experts were correct...

I'll give you two clues. It wasn't Fulham and it ended in "g"

Barking?
Dorking?
Esh Winning?
Kettering?
Lancing?
Steyning?
Totton & Eling?
Woking?
Worthing?

They're all lower league teams

Nah, my mind's still drawing a blank, hmmmmm...

alternatives to brenda

by Gus the teenage cow » 17 Oct 2009 20:22

10 points from 36 is horrendous...fair enough we've sold a few but no way are we this bad......brenda has talked a good game but delivered sfa thus far but but but but but as much as I am beginning to seriously doubt the guy what is the alternative?

get some other unproven manager in who can't sign anyone until january and who has to work with brenda's players (who are still learning his methods) and start from scratch again

hmmm i'm not sure what to do, both choices stink, we really are a complete mess at the mo

Very simple Gus. Start playing 4-4-2, drop Kebe and Cummings and replace them with footballers. Keep things really really simple, and with the players we have we should just about stay out of the relegation spots. Then in January Mr mad si going to have to spend a bit more cash on proper, reasoned, buys (NOT panic buys like McAnuff, Rasiak and Mills).

There are two managers currently available who would be able to adopt this rather obvious strategy, SSC and Curbishley. Yes they won't be cheap, but even if they were taken on only until the end of the season, with escape clauses in case a proper football club wanted a manager, we should still avoid relegation.

FFS, I haven't seen the destruction of a football so quick as RFC since Leeds almost went under. Believe me, we arenlt too far off the Leeds scenario if Mr Mad's financial statements are to be believed.

well-reasoned, thoughtful, problem-solving, proactive ideas - so absolutely no chance the club will act on them

Quite frankly, a dog turd would be able to do better.

Go 442. Play with some fire in the belly. Get ugly. Break a few legs. Desperate times call for desperate measures. FFS I would even have Billy Davies as manager. Cut the bullshit. I don't know about comparisons with Leeds Utd. We look more like Bradford City.

Agreed TB. Don't know what I was thinking comparing us to Leeds. Bradford is far more apt.

Parky?
Mad Dog?
Murty as no.2?

Vision
Dorset-Knob I see Exeter a bit down here and Tisdale is a good prospect, with a team who are enjoyable to watch.

Pardew was underated and missed out on the fruition of a lot of good ground work, (IMHO if he'd got more games after the TB fiasco we could have avoided relegation years ago)

Curbishley knows how many beans make five

Parky, the best man for a relegation struggle, he'd pick up the team and carry it over the finish line!

so for me,

1. Pardew (best option)
2. Curbishley (best high value option)
3. Tisdale, (best budget option)
4. Parky (best sentimental option)

LOL. Have you given up on Holloway already after a couple of defeats?

Blackpool are I believe, fifth in the league at present, and with a mini-budget, makes you think doesn't it?

We should have kept Murty on in some capacity - helped him get his coaching badges or whatever - he's been great for this club and really knew how to rally the players - plus he was always very good when he spoke to the media - unlike BR and his watch. Personally, I'd love Copps back til end of season, but I don't think he'd come and I think it would spoil the reputation he has garnered here - if he couldn't keep us up, people would blame him but it would be so unfair. Therefore, I'd like to go with Curbishley - another in the Coppell mould somewhat, certainly not a big ego and honest with his post match comments etc - other than them, I have no bloody idea who we could get and the biggest problem is, who would REALLY want to come here.

Curbishly wouldn't come here and I've heard that from the horse's mouth. Why does everyone keep throwing his name around? :|

because he hasn't got a club and he did wonders at Charlton?

Fair enough if he's said he doesn't want to come here - I just can't think of ANYONE worth their salt who'd actually WANT to come here the state we're in. Hoddle is an option I suppose - I wanted him when we were appointing after Pardew left!

I have serious doubts about Brenda

But bigger doubts about his support team

We need a change there probably, remember how changing Mad Dog was the start of Pardew's ascent. Even though at the time they seemed a package

If Brenda hasn't got the balls to do that, then it's goodbye time!

Well I have spent weeks defending Brenda to all and sundry, but now he must fall on his sword.

But who the hell would take over , with the lack of budget and the crop of players? Have we got the most players out on loan of any other club?

It now seems that we have squeaky bum time and just hope that we can just manage to sneak staying in the league. Maybe then JM and his puppet can do their face saving and admit they cocked up the appointment and the clearance sale.

Mind you before the seasdon started quite a few wanted Ferguson or Keane, quite ironic their teams are actually worse than us.
