I reckon he's gone.

Fund a couple of loan signings.

I suspect he is gone too - sell him to someone like Southampton and get soe cash in for a RB and LW. It is a bit like Simon Cox, we'd ideally like to keep him but sounds like he wants regular football and he won't get that at Reading for a while

It was always going to be Davies or Sigurdsson - and at this moment I'd rather Sigurdsson.

Davies misses one game , one he wouldn;t have been involved in anyway, by having the extension. The fact they've extended it just to 14th Jan would suggest he'll be back. If he wasn't coming back they would have done a longer extension would they not ?

Maybe we're not letting him go for longer cause we are selling him...

This arguement could just go round and round.

If we were selling him we'd have recalled him.

Unless we were selling him to Wycombe, in which case we'd have extended the loan for longer or sold him straight away.

Wycombe Royal Antonio has extended his loan at Southampton to the end of the season.

At least he will have good experience in that division and will be ready for our promotion challenge next season.......

Antonio is out of contract at the end of the season so that is another player off the payroll for good.

I'd be disappointed if we sold Davies because he offers us two things we're lacking at the moment. Genuine pace and goals.

He's not the finished article and he could do with fleshing out his game with better passing etc, but right now in this division he would be a good bet, and if we were to get relegated he would be a brilliant player to bring in.

The only deal I'd consider is a loan to the end of the season with the option to buy if we stay up. Something we probably would have benefitted from going for with Cox if we could have got it agreed.

Long term he may well have a future with us but just not in the short term as we need experience rather than too many kids at the moment.

No problem with him on loan somewhere for the rest of the season but would not want to sell him now unless forced into it by an opportunity far to good for the player to turn down

According to Jonny Fordham at the Scrote, Davies is to leave.

Or Wycombe need to get someone out first.

Scott Davies got an assist for the Wycombe goal in their 1-1 draw away to Leeds.

Fantastic pass it was too. He was involved in nearly everything that Wycombe produced in terms of efforts on goal today by the looks of things.

This will be another Cox type scenario. Let him go on the cheap and if he makes it then we get another £500K. In the meantime we will be in Divion One.

Not particularly. Cox is proving a decent Champ striker 2 years after we let him go having worked hard at a lower level during that time. The fact he isn't in the Prem two seasons later suggests very strongly that he simply wasn't ready for it when we let him go to Swindon. Maybe never will be.

Davies on the other hand, has put in 3 or 4 fairly solid performances at our current level, but is looking at a position with a lot of competition, whilst there are allegedly question marks over his attitude to training.

Letting Davies go will only really be a mistake if he ends up playing in a higher league than us next season. You can't keep players on the basis they may end up good enough for you in two or three years, because without games, they don't get better and there is only so long people are willing to be loaned out.

Letting Cox go was only a mistake with 20/20 hindsight knowing that we were getting relegated. Something that only happened by the slimmest of margins. And given how we started the season, it's unlikely he'd have been playing until January / February last year... could he have waited that long? I doubt it myself.

Funny how so many teams want to take our players on loan yet...
