Focher
rhroyal Definitely will be a good player at this level - but why? I can maybe see him in central midfield alongside Karacan, which nobody has made their own yet.

This thread is becoming a broken record.

Why? Because he has massive experience in the premier league, europe, and international, and probably because one of Ingimarsson or Pearce is leaving. Central midfield? we have Karacan, Cisse, Gunnarsson, Tabb, Howard, Sigurdsson and Matejovsky so why the hell would we sign him to play in midfield?????

Because one constant this season is that our midfield has left the back four hideously exposed over and over and over again.

Anyway, it's just speculation - I'm sure he's here as a CB, it's just that he might also serve as a DCM if required.

:| I'm pleased with this.
At the same time, I'm confused with this.
Maybe he'll play alongside Mills.

BM clearly doesn't want to play Ivar and Pearce together.

This signing covers us if Mills gets a knock as well as adding competition to the squad.

Just a left winger now and the squad looks decent on paper.

Looks like he's cup tied, which is unfortunate (should be prove to be a mainstay)

Isn't Mills also on 4 yellows.

Why would he ? Blindingly obvious that they are not the right pair.

The signing makes sense as long as it is to give us 4 centre backs in the squad rather than because someone is off.

Oh, and Steve Hetzke

Zurab and Griffin seem like decent signings to me. Good experience, played most of their careers in the top division but not over the hill. The sort of 2 signings which Reading needed in the summer.

I still worry about Reading up front whether they are going to score enough goals.

Doesn't matter too much as the cut off date was moved to 31st December for 5 yellows (he has 6 this season having now been booked in each of his last 5 matches). He has to avoid 10 before sometime around April otherwise it is a 2 match ban.

If he is going to play in his usual position at centre back then I reckon there is something we don't know. Either one of our centre backs is on his way or one of them has an injury which needs an operation or long rest. I wouldn't completely rule out him playing in midfield though as none of the many midfielders we have has really provided good protection to the back four. It certainly seem unlikely we are going to splash out the cost of a loan player like this to sit on the bench.

Completly and utterly surprised by this, very pleased with it however. Top player, all we need now is a striker and we've half a chance of getting out of the pickle we're in.

Someone's going to be disappointed with their lack of games.

As stated, that it's obvious that Pearce and Ivar are too similar as players and don;t make a good combination. I don;t think it's a question of McDermott not wanting to play them togther, more that they just shouldn;t play together.

Alan Partridge oh and Lawrie Sanchez

Grzegorz Rasiak.

Zurab will be a good signing in my opinion, will provide cover for Mills and Ingy.

Interesting also that Wellbeck signed for Preston today, Darren Ferguson is making the most of who is Dad is.

Saw Emmanuel-Thomas up front for Arsenal yesterday and would love to get him in on loan if possible. He's similar to Rasiak in size and strength but looks much quicker and more adept with the ball at his feet. That would make five strikers so unlikely to happen, but maybe worth a look at some point as long as we stay up hopefully.

A good, sensible signing, very similar to getting Griffin in.

We are going to need experienced players like this in the 2nd half of the season to help us stay up.
