Looks quite clearly that they were trying to stop the players from going over to their fans - no sign of any "fisticuff" incidents in that clip - just shows the stewards to be another set of idiots.

Agreed on the stewards, but it still doesn't shed any light on the red card.

Can barely tell the stwards from the players as there's more orange than if the Battle of the Boyne had been sponsored by Tango

No it doesn't - but what I'm saying is, whatever happened before had obviously calmed down - the players just wanted to celebrate with the fans and the stewards attempted to prevent them from doing it. Barstewards.

The stewards were not on the pitch to stop the Reading players celebrating that had absolutely nothing to do with it.

Immediately after the final whistle there was an altercation between McAnuff and Mulumbu. McAnuff raised his hands to Mulumbu and the assistant saw it told the ref and sent him off for Violent Conduct.
Mass brawl so stewards go involved to break it up because the Reading players were furious. McAnuff went after the assistant so they stopped that.

A coach of some sort from the Reading bench came sprinting from the bench to square up to the officials. and the stewards were trying to stop this.

Reading players were angry and the stewards were trying to stop a fight that is all! Not to stop the reading fans from celebrating.

There was me thinking that Stewards are for crowd saftey not to deal with incidents on the pitch....

I used to think that West brom were more civilized than WoLOLves but last nights stewarding confirms to me that they are just the same. The sort of people who wouldn't think twice about throwing coins and bottles at the opposing fans.. Not worth appealing as they will just sweep it under the carpet like they usually do up there

In a way give McD an easy answer to have a tough question. With Sig back and Dancing Jimmy playing out of his skin, I think Jobi could have found himself dropped as it is. Certainly Kebe's shirt to lose at the moment.

That clip doesn't show the worst of it which was nearer the half way line. After Mcanuff got the red, he got involved with a steward and then about 30 stewards ran on from all sides of the pitch and got involved in plenty of pushing and shoving with the players, quite unneccesarily.

Then the players moved towards the fans and that's where the video starts. These stewards need to be asked what they were trying to prevent. Did they think the playerswere going to attck their own fans or vice versa? Idiots

According to Tabby on BBC Berks Mulumbu grabbed Jacob round the throat so Jacob obviously defended himself and grabbed Mulumbu round the throat. Unfortunately the ref only saw the retaliation so Muffin got the red.

Hopefully the incident will be examined closer and if caught on telly no doubt Mulumbu will also get done by the FA.

Either way he is out until after the Derby game which presumably means James Henry will get his chance to shine (personally Jacob hasn't exactly been on top form in the last few games anyway so perhaps an enforced break will do some good).

And he has history for that, except he did it to the fans of the team he was playing for (Millwall).

Seems obvious that the stewards got it totally wrong and I hope the FA do something to deal with them.

As for the impact of the red card, I would expect to see Sigurdsson and Kebe on the wings with Howard, Gunnarsson and Karacan/Tabb making up the three in the middle.

If Long was available for Saturday I'd think it most likely we'd go back to 4-4-2 the Sheff Weds game but as it stands I think McDermott will stick with what has been working for us and just shuffle the midfield a tad.

I'd love for Henry to get a chance too though, but can't see that being anything other than a run out from the bench.

I think there is a real potential to miss McAnuff. He might not've been in his best run of form but he's a player the opposition have to be very wary of regardless. Take that known threat away and it's one less thing for the opposition to worry about and plan against. It probably also means less space for the other midfielders at times.
