As a slight aside, how many teams from the PL get exemptions into the 3rd round? Is it the top 7 (i.e. all the qualifers for CL and EL) or do the Intertoto brigade get a bye (if the Intertoto still exists)?

Intertoto was discontinued when the UEFA Cup became Europa League. So top 7 I'm guessing.

Bored at work so I've had a stab at who we could be drawn with - seeing as the draw is both regionalised and seeded (as with last year). So, taking the lowest ranked 35 teams from last season, I reckon we'll be drawn against one of the following:

Stevenage
Oxford
Cheltenham
Barnet
Torquay
Hereford
Burton
Shrewsbury
Northampton
Dag & Red
Aldershot
Bournemouth
Southend
Wycombe
Gillingham
Exeter
Leyton Orient
Yeovil

TBH, I'd be happy with any of those away with the exception of the Daggers.

Definitely hoping for Aldershot away though!!!!

Orient away would be a good one as we haven't played there for years, its easy to get to, has a decent social club and the pub on the corner near the ground was alright too.

Failing that any other London or just outside or one of the easier to get to away southern games.

Burton might get shifted to the Northern section as the two promoted conference sides are from the south and both relegated sides from division 4 were in the far north.

Agreed re Burton - it got a bit harder to choose when it came to some of the Midlands team. Having said that, we've also lost Blackpool and replaced them with Pompey from the seeded teams so who knows....

No, no, no.

How many times does it have to be mentioned that the first round is regionalised and SEEDED???

Which, in simple terms, mean the top ranked 35 teams from last year are kept separate from the bottom ranked 35 teams.

Therefore, we can only play a "southern" team who finished no higher than 14th in last seasons League 1.

So that's no Swindon, Southampton, Brentford, Ipswich or Peterborough (all mentioned so far).

keep your knickers on, you'll pop a bloody vessel at this rate.

Not everyone gives enough of a shit to check exactly how far down the seeding goes.

And just because we can't have them, doesn't stop it being my preferred choice.

Seeing that the seeding had already been mentioned at least twice, sometimes, Ian, things on here need to be spelt out. You should know that by now

What's the point in reading what everyone else wants before you make your choice?
