Archie's penalty Have you watched the tournament? Holland have been negative and Uruguay attack. Why would they play defensively now? Part of me thinks they might bottle it on the big stage though. Holland have not impressed me.

Don't think they would get away with that tonight. Dutch are far too good for it and its funny what pressure does to a team mentality.

See tonight. Prob be 4 0 Uruguay....

Uruguay go down to 6 men after the rest get sent off with red cards for clearing a shot off the line with their hands. Somehow they hang on to win via penalty kicks.

Or a shock 1-0 win in normal time. One of the two, but Uruguay advances.

It's a funny old game this, and the format is knockout play

All you need is the referee pointing to the penalty spot, a linesman's flag raised, a goalkeeping error, etc

Forlan is the fulcrum of the Uruguay attack --but Suarez is its spearpoint and, well, he did what he had to do to get 'em there

Uruguay 0-3 Netherlands

Really not convinced by this "Uruguay have been attacking & Netherlands have have defensive" stuff.

Uruguay have scored 7 goals, Netherlands 9.

Think all that's happened is Uruguay have been less defensive than normal and Netherlands less offensive. Net result is they've probably employed relatively similar tactics - relying on an excellent forward line picking off over committed teams on the break - and in Uruguay's case also heavily relying on the ability of Forlan at set pieces.

Why is this an official thread? What defines official as opposed to just another thread? Why have so many nobbers started WC games with the words official thread? Are there some counter-attacking unofficial threads out there?

Robben to be kicked off the park (not difficult)

Uruguay to end up with 9 players.

Holland to win by 2 or 3 (not necessarily after 90 mins)

Hasn't been similar at all! Uruguay play a much more direct game to Holland's patient build up play.

AP i don't think you've watched any of this tournament based on your views. A lot of teams have sat back against the Dutch while Uruguay have tried to defend at times when clearly attack is there best form of defence.

Well I have :|

I just don't find the Dutch anywhere near as exciting as they were two years ago or how they were with Bergkamp.

That's why I agreed with Seal - I think the Dutch have gone back on their exciting style of old, which has been effective but not exciting.

Uruguay on the other hand have been an exciting, tenacious attacking breath of fresh air (but maybe this is in comparison to their old stuffy selves).

People say Sneijder is playing great - I find him boring. Forlan has been superb this tournament, no-one on the Dutch has reached his level of form.

AP trawling new depths of shit here.

Prediction - Holland, much as I've found them uninspiring this tournament, to be too much for Uruguay on the night. 2-1

Uruguay XI: Muslera, M. Pereira, Victorino, Godin, Cacares, Perez, Arevalo, Gargano, A. Pereira, Cavani, Forlan

Holland XI: Stekelenburg, Boulahrouz, Mathijsen, Heitinga, Van Bronckhorst, Robben, De Zeeuw, Van Bommel, Sneijder, Kuyt, Van Persie

Think Holland will win it in extra time, 2-1.
