I wouldn't want that. I saw success being bought at a lower level with Rushden and Diamonds and it just seemed a bit wierd.

I'd like to go to the new Wembley and see us win.

A striker who has a decent 1st touch and who knows where the goal is. I really do think we would be top 2 if we'd had one of these from the start of the season. Sinclair has scored 12 for Swansea already and only cost half a mil.

Sounds like yet another deluded teenager, lacking experience of life. Do you think that there is a queue of billionaires somewhere, desperate to own a football club, just so they can throw away endless sums of money for no return, except to read unappreciative comments from fans that probably couldn't organize a tuck shop queue, let alone have input into the complicated business running of a football club. My wish is that you unrealistic dreamers would f'off to Chelsea or manure if thats the style of club that you want to follow. I personally think that the Chairman has, and still is, running the Club in a very good manner. Under his chairmanship, there will still be a solvent Reading Football club for many years to come, and not a sterile, un-affordable, mercenary team, taking the fans as mugs, kissing the badge but threatening to leave if another player earns £1,000.00 a week more than them despite the fact that they are on £140,000.00 a week already.
I wish you types would learn to appreciate the Chairman and what he has achieved. Remember, his predecessor Smee ostensibly only wanted the club just so that Rock---- could build on Elm Park.

Very harsh criticism of roadrunner from oldebiscuit. It may be unlikely to happen but the topic of the thread is people's wishes and that happens to be that of roadrunner and as far as I can see he made no criticism of SJM. Indeed whether one believes him or not I thought SJM has hinted that might be his wish for the Club too with the proviso that the new owner was a safe person to run the Club. Doesn't have to be a mega mega rich owner and could be someone who restarts the concept of building brick by brick which let's be honest after a fantastic period of great success has stalled.

As a matter of fact I cannot understand why roadrunner's wish wouldn't be the wish of many Reading fans who want to see the Club establish themselves as a regular Premiership Club which I know isn't the wish of all fans. I would be perfectly happy if roadrunners wish came true if the owner had a safe pair of hands for the job.

European competition would be amazing. However, I'm not sure I want to be back in the Premier at the moment, especially given the problems we'd have competing at that level (cf this week's news about the debt levels of Bolton, a similarly sized club). So first I want a sane, intelligent, wildly rich chairman with no dodgy human rights record, someone who wants to build us gradually rather than chuck money at us.

Nope, sadly well into my 30's here. I don't disagree much with what you say but I would add that Madejski wants to sell and doesn't have the vigor that he used to have. For this football club to continue to develop it needs new ownership. I don't think I mentioned anywhere that we need a billionaire, that sir is you going off on a tangent. What I would like to see is another John Madejski. Someone with a sensible head but someone that has the drive and ambition that John Madejski had 10/15 years ago.

I feel I am kind of treading water supporting Reading these last few years. I have been going since the late 70s and always revelled in the "plucky underdog" small team with potential sort of tag. Then our dreams came true and we were in the big time (let's face it - I never thought that would happen). Don't get me wrong, I love the Championship, and it is a massive step up from the Div 4 stuff I was brought up on, but having seen us make the prem and take it by as much storm as we could I now feel half-hearted about what happened next and being a "nearly" club for the last few years. Of course I don't mean it, but in some ways I wish we had never made the prem, that way my wishlist would be more sensible.

As it is I want to go back and stay there. Man Utd home >>>>> Scunthorpe home, regardless of how much more "authentic" the latter is.
