I do my best to be obnoxious on here but Platypuss really has had this gig perfected for about 8 years.

Snowball You call 13 goals in 16 games poor?

And that for a very poor team one place off the bottom of their league!!

There can be no doubt that he is a very good league 2 striker, now let's hope he can do the same at our level.

I agree with those who say it is far too early to make a proper judgment. I remember being very unimpressed with Kitson on his debut for us after stepping up from Cambridge and he didn't turn out too bad. More recently Leigertwood didn't show his best form on his debut either.

Just looking at Manset's performance yesterday though I thought he started brightly and was neat and tidy without being threatening but I thought he tired even in the short time he was on the field and by the end his touch and timing had gone and he looked what he is which is completely untried at Championship level.

I still have an open mind on how he will do in the long term but I think he is unfortunate that he has joined at a time where the fans badly want a striker who can deliver immediately whereas in reality he may well need time and patience.

By the way Pearcey and Platypuss - you are entitled to have given your opinions of one another which is fair enough but let's move on now please.

As McD said he needs to get up to speed on his fitness ... no surprise that a League 2 players will not be as fit as a Championship player.

Brilliant signing IMO opinion but still can't help thinking though that given the position we're in, something a little more immediate is needed more than the rather obvious building for 2 years ahead.

Firstly, we need to give him time to adjust and fortunately we have 2 decent championship strikers in Long and Hunt to be going on with.

Church, Williams and Manset - along with potentially Robson-Kanu, Bell-Baggie and even Jacob Walcott could make it up front in time.

However, I couldn't help noticing that Manset can't jump!! He is surprisingly agile though and with some serious fitness training I think will go on to be a good signing for us.

I don't think he needs to do any work on upper body strength though!

As Reading have been following him for 2 years I'd guess he'll turn out to be pretty good.

Like Cummings I worry he made be a bit lightweight

I'd suggest protein shakes and some serious gym work too help him bulk up.

Not alway a guarantee - we'd been looking very closely at Halford for that long, including talking to all sorts of people about him, but we seem to have missed a tiny flaw in his character.....

Yes, but when we look at a player we don't just look at their playing skills - we talk to people who've coached them from the earliest age and we look at attitude, character, application, work-ethic, etc.

We did the full assessment job on Halford.....

Dude's nowhere near fit so I urge everyone to make no judgements for a while yet, possibly even until next season.

Same with Fae. Apparently we'd been tracking him a long time too.
