Been fantastic over the last few games. For me he is the defenders version of a confidence striker; when he's on form he's great, but because he likes to get in front of his man, pick out long passes etc - he needs to be 'on form' to be any good.

He is not yet ready for the premiership in my opinion, but he is a top defender when on form.

I'd sell if the money was above 5m, but if not, I'd keep until the end of the season and then probably accept 3m. Less than that and I'd say 'no thanks, I'm happy having a superb centre back pairing thank you very much' ;)

Now THAT would make a huge difference, and it's not as if we don't have decent centre-backs in Pearce, Zurab, Ingi, Harte & Williams

I do think, tho' that Millsy will be a very very good CB as he develops

Colin Cheeselog Please be true, this would be the highlight of the season for me. One of the biggest cnuts to ever play for Reading.

Really? You've watched Reading much over the years?

Yep. You?

Season Ticket holder for more years than I want to remember. Seen A LOT worse than Mills. Him and Pearce have formed a decent partnership. Getting rid of Mills would be the highlight of your season? Weird.

Will Zurab be here next season? Will Ingi be up to it next season? Harte and Williams decent centre backs? Where the hell did you pull that one from?!

But I do agree that Mills will get better, don't understand where all the hatred for him is coming from personally.

I don't hate Pearce. Think he will be an excellent CB one day, will mature into a top player, I reckon.

BUT if we COULD get someone of the quality of Shorey and cash, in return for Mills
it is one swap-around I could live with. That's all I'm saying.

IDEALLY we'd keep Mills-Pearce and get a Shorey, but I'm talking horse-trading
to "all-round" improve the side.

At the moment, though I can live with Harte, someone of the level of a Shorey would
make us a really good defensive unit. IMO we would then need a top attacking midfielder
with a killer pass (I'm presuming that Manset turns into a 15-goal a season second striker
with Hunt-Church-Williams in the background.

Harte can cover CB, ditto Ingi, both may get another year. Zurab as No 2/3 with Morrison doesn't seem bad.

Agreed, maybe not as good as Mills there (altho' I think many would pick Zurab over Mills) but
if that is what it cost to have a top-top left-back, I could live with that.

Whether Harte is Ok now (I think he is) if we were next year to challenge for automatic
I think it would mean we have someone AT THE MINIIMUM as good as Bertrand, or better

That's good to hear, go you. Fortunately I don't come on here very often so perhaps I don't know the etiquette. Must we clarify the extent and history of our support on every post?

Perhaps I should clarify my opinion. I think Mills is an utter cnut and a vastly overrated footballer. I would, therefore, be VERY pleased if somebody was stupid enough to buy him.

I don't want Millsy to go, but Forest is a major step up from Reading FC.

They have a history and to me they are a very strong bet to go up, probably in 2nd.

For us to end up higher than them we will need to win there. Very unlikely.

Not saying I want him to go, or that he wants to go, but he ought to be interested in Prem football

I don't give a f*ck how many times you've watched Reading. You make a statement that you think Mills is the biggest cnut to ever play for Reading. You don't need to clarify your opinion, I got you the first time.
However, it would be nice if someone makes a sweeping statement that they back it up with reasons/evidence for this opinion. Then we all discuss said opinion. It's called a forum. Sorry if it's a bit complicated.

I would love to see statistics on the Pearce/Mills partnership. Games won, goals conceeded etc. Snowball? :)

So, lets go over what happened:
You make a strong comment on a forum (Mills is one of the biggest cnuts you've seen play for Reading).
I ask you a question so that you can justify your opinion (how much have you watched Reading).
You're not able to, so make childish comments.
Goodbye.

Pearce has a much better overall record than either Mills or Zurab

And Mills-Pearce blows Mills-Zurab out of the water!!

P20 W08 D09 L3 28-16 GD 12 = 1.65 ppg Win 40.0% Lose 15% - - - Pearce League Games
P23 W09 D08 L6 36-26 GD 10 = 1.52 ppg Win 39.1% Lose 26% - - - MILLS League Games

P23 W10 D10 L3 33-19 GD 14 = 1.74 ppg Win 43.5% Lose 13.0% - - - Pearce All Games
P25 W10 D09 L6 40-29 GD 11 = 1.56 ppg Win 40.0% Lose 24.0% - - - MILLS All Games

P16 W07 D06 L3 23-14 GD 09 = 1.69 ppg Win 43.8% Lose 18.8% - - - BOTH PLAYING, League Games
P18 W08 D07 L3 27-17 GD 10 = 1.72 ppg Win 44.4% Lose 16.7% - - - BOTH PLAYING, All Games

3 League Defeats in 20 conceding 0.80 goals per game - Pearce
6 League Defeats in 23 conceding 1.13 goals per game - Mills
3 League Defeats in 10 conceding 1.30 goals per game - Zurab

3 All-Games Defeats in 23 conceding 1.0 goals per game - Pearce
6 All-Games Defeats in 25 conceding 1.6 goals per game - Mills

(ZURAB has P10 W3 D4 L3 17-13 GD 4 1.3 ppg)

So let’s go over what really happened:

I made a comment that i think Mills is a cnut (which I have explained at length on other posts in recent weeks)

You asked me if I've watched Reading much. I said yes. You said you don't care how many times I've watched Reading.

With Ingi possibly fit again we "might" be able to lose Mills and still make the play offs but it would be a huge risk IMO and would again cast into great doubt whether the current regime has any serious intent about returning tho the PL.

If he went at the end of the season then so be it - but now would be too great a risk.

NotW says Bolton have Mills lined up as a replacement for Cahill for £3Million, when he leaves in the summer for a top 4 club.... would explain the Morrison signing. if it means we can keep Zurab and the young lad is any good, might be good business

I hope we tell them to feck right off. Leaving aside how we rate him, 3m is nowhere near enough given the over inflated values in the world's most overrated league.
