soggy biscuit Liverpool reject £35M offer for Fernando Torres from CheLOLsea

See, i think this is just mind games from Chelsea towards Athletico Madrid. Having failed with a £52 million swoop for Sergio Aguero and Diego Godin - i reckon they put in a cheeky £35m bid for Torres to say to Athletico "fine, if you wont sell us Aguero, we'll go for Torres instead".

Chelsea say they never went in for Aguero and Godin though...

Hoop Blah Gary O'Neil to West Ham is a good one for them. Another player we apparently looked at but decided against when he moved north to 'Boro.

Yes I'm sure at a fans forum at the end of the season we went down Coppell said he could have had him but he decided against. I often think back to this, we had Oster playing right wing for the majority of the season, arguably our weakest link. A new right winger could have kept us up in my opinion. Even someone like Routledge who was available at the time.

We'll see now if the club has developed some backbone with Dalglish in charge.

Torres has handed in a transfer request - SSN reporting Liverpool have rejected it. If the normal pattern occurs, Liverpool will sell Torres to Chelsea for £40m on deadline day, with no time to buy a replacement (they may have Suarez, but Suarez in, Torres out, means the club are worse off).

I'm getting fed up with players signing multi-year multi-million pound contracts just to demand transfers when things don't go their way, Mascherano, Tevez, Rooney, now Torres. If they want the security of a long-term contract they should be prepared to see it out.

I can never understand why clubs have a whole month to make a move on players yet wait till the last 3 days before they start any bidding? Surely the sooner you get the player in and used to his surroundings the better.

Yes of course, but a lot of players only become available towards the end of the window when their clubs have brought players in, thus making them surplus to requirements.

This went a lot further than being offered. We had agreed a fee and personal terms, somewhere around £3.5m and Coppell got cold feet at the last minute and pulled out of the deal. Same thing with Matty Taylor

That's the thing isn't it?

Generally, all banks want their money back and at interest.

That hurts. Those two would have given us a real chance of staying up.
