Well, Adam, thanks for the above. As I have already stated, purchasing another 2,200 tickets would have cost the club £55,000, at most, if they didn't sell a single one. So money is obviously very very tight at the club if they couldn't afford to take that gamble, considering the thousands we'll be making on that game alone.

I believe that Notts County asked for, and were given, 6,000 and sold about 4,600 of those.

adamh4608 and as for the points, they say, they still have not received the tickets yet, they cannot go on sale till they have them, which Monday and the point system on the man city game was the fairest way to do it.

They could get off their arses and go and get them FFS, they'd of been here on Thursday.

Don't want to trawl through the thread.

1. Is 2,800 just the initial allocation?
2. Why are the points brackets so crap? I just miss out on 1,600, so might miss out on a ticket if there is a big demand.
3. Do we expect ticket office queues and the website going offline?

Point 1 is a very good question!

I can see a huge demand for the 1600 points sales, then a slightly huger demand after that!

I think a lot will depend on whether the club can secure more tickets, wherever they are in the stadium and how quickly they do this.

Ive no idea why the club arent selling them till monday, but i guarantee they havent just been sitting on them while doing the crossword.

You choose to live away or not.you choose not to go to enough games to get the ticket on monday or not.the club decide to reward the most loyal, and give us a chance of selling the rest quickly enough to get more if needed and lay on free transport for 2800 people at great expense and we get a million posts, mostly whingeing.

you cant sell tickets if you havent got them yet.

And lol at im alright jack. I have 1400 odd points so wont be getting a ticket, im just not being gay and blaming anyone else for that other than myself.
Massive lol at all of you. If youd all turned up at 4 or 5 extra away and cup games a year before now, wed not have been so concerned about selling them and got the full allocation. All of a sudden its man city in the cup and you are all suddenly clamouring. Live with it.

PieEater It's probably along the lines HSSC suggested, the club would be exposed financially taking a larger allocation because City were being bastards by not allowing any returns. They may even be concerned about selling 2800 and so they came up with the free travel as a way to guarantee all tickets sell.

So don't blame the TO, they were probably being careful, it's the City ticketing policy that's the problem. Particularly given there will be thousands of empty seats elsewhere in the ground.

My only problem with it all is the poor communication and delayed start to selling tickets. Why couldn't they sell on Saturday and Sunday even if they couldn't get the free travel vouchers printed in time they could post them out later.

I'm in the top band but still debating whether to go, 5hrs on a coach is a very long way back if we get beaten.

I do think you have a valid point and our club may have been limited to the 2800 allocation because City very surprisingly decided not to open up two tiers of their ground. I think they have under-estimated demand from their own fan-base for this game and the knock-on does impact upon us. I honestly think this game would be close to a sell-out if all seats were made available.

What an Oxf*rd joke!

If this all turns out to be due to city closing the top tier, thus reducing the capacity and therefore our allocation,i can only hope you all feel a little sheepish.

Not really. That would clearly be the fault of Man City but the bottom line is that tickets should be on sale now and really should have been yesterday. Our club has not been perfect in all of this brendy.
Anyway thats my last word on all of this.

I'm going to be so f*cking angry if I can't go to this game, thanks to a cock-up involving free travel that I can't even take advantage of.

And I don't want to be sitting on the other side of the stadium to our first 2,800 ticket buyers, thanks.

How far down is it from that horse?

Maybe if I hadn't decided to start a family in the last 5 years I could have got to more games, royalty points or family......choices, choices.maybe if I hadn't met my wife we wouldn't have moved to Leicester........... Give it a break.
The fact is the club did not request enough tickets

If, big if, we got more tickets and they were the other side of the ground. I actually think that'd be quite good, especially if we got a large following in each end. If we took 5000 people with 2K sitting at either end of the pitch, we'll always be attacking towards our fans which is pretty good.

adamh4608 they say the 2,800 ticket allocation was decided before the club decided to put on free travel and they did not know the club was going to do this. if they had know this would have ask for more tickets.

adamh4608 So I said, why did you not talk to both club about tickets and sort it out earlier
the reply I got was yes that would have been a good idea.

Two quotes that sum up this complete shambles.

The ticket office didn't know their OWN CLUB were putting on free travel? And they would have requested more tickets if they did!?

Not even thinking of planning this in advance? The only response being "d'oh. Er yeah that would have been a good idea". LOL.

I would be fired by my clients if I came up with a response like that.

Defend this Brendy! And no i'm not sitting in the fooking home end!

Even with the top tier closed our allocation entitlement would have been 4,500. Baaa

If we sell out the 2,800 tickets, still with a huge demand for more tickets the club is going to look a bit silly.

thats my oxf*rd point. You make the choice, on the basis that being able to get cup ticket isnt worth not living away. Then you cant get one,and all of a sudden the clubs at fault for not tailoring you a perfect personal solution.your choice you dont want to go in the home end.its all your choice.the club are just trying to help as many people as they can, in the best way they can organise. If jm decides unilaterally to suddenly pay for coaches, theres not alot club or ticket office or you or i can do apart from say thanks, thats very kind.
