Can you do anything about this STAR? Us fans are pretty helpless, and looking at a trip without many friends or family members, and sitting away from them if we do.

Screw the coach travel, lets take all the fans who not only want to go, but DESERVE to go.

Sadly, despite their apparent lack of understanding of the football supporter's pysche, the management at RFC don't appear to value input from STAR on matters such as this.

If they did, they would have consulted with STAR before they scored this massive own goal. Now it is sadly too late.

The fact that STAR appear to be largely ignored by the business managers at the club and therefore have very little influence as to what happens and the effect of that on supporters, is the main reason that I didn't bother renewing my membership this year (despite having been a member since STAR was formed).

Sorry I don't think anyone can do anything about this now - though we will suggest they talk to us about allocation as they have done in the past but not on this occasion. I suspect that as the allocation had to be requested just after the original draw viz the Watford weekend they (like the rest of the football world) thought it somewhat academic. As Dirk has said many times it also depends on the way Man City structure their offer of tickets. It is usually a relatively small number on sale or return and then a much larger number that RFC have to but no matter whether they sell them or not.

For the conspiracists from the meeting we attended yesterday to help with the travel logistics the decision for free travel was finally made late on Friday so has nothing at all to do with the number of tickets. I did get forewarning of that Friday afternoon when it was still not certain - maybe they are beginning to learn or else they only want to tell us good news

Given the atmosphere at Everton there is no doubt we should take as many as we can but I think, much to the dismay of everyone at RFC, the decision was made weeks ago and Man City have no desire to play ball and help now.

If anyone can make a decision to help now it is Man City so maybe the only option now is to petition them to change their mind and let us have more tickets. Much as RFC can be seen to be to blame they can do nothing to change it now it seems.

There is no way that City will play ball, looking at the demand from their fans, and who can blame them?

You said that RFC may have seen them choosing an allocation as academic due to having the play Chelsea/Everton away in the next round. Surely though, if they had sat down and actually thought about it, in the event that we did beat this team the fans in all likelihood would have been gripped by cup fever.

And if we didn't beat Everton we wouldn't have to pay for any tickets!

The only options were

Pay for no tickets
Man City in the Qtr final
Or
Aston Villa in the Qtr final

Massive own goal by the club, nothing can be done now but hopefully they will involve STAR on all future occasions.

Very simple..... RFC were probably offered 5,000 in the first place which was duly turned down as they did not want to be exposed with unsold tickets hence their decision to sign up to 2,800 tickets.

Bad judgement by RFC.

i was one of the lucky ones that got a ticket. but feel sorry about the people who cant get a ticket's.
still no sorry from the club, they dont seem to care about us loyal royals.

What's the point of having a supporters trust if they can't even be consulted on small matters such as this? surely they also act as an intermediary between club and fans - no communication at all. To be honest I don't know how much impact STAR has on the club at all - if any.

Shouldn't be said here but what's the point of having a head of communications if they can't communicate with fans/supporters trust?

Well, I think we know where STAR stand then.

Financial ramifications my @rse. As has been said time and time again, the money we get JUST FOR THIS GAME means we could have afforded to take a small financial hit, IF we didn't sell all the tickets.

Why can they play some sort of lip service and at least say they'd attempt to talk with the club over adding to ticket allocation policy in the future [for example, having STAR kept in the loop/helping with decision making]. If they could show some sort of future problem solving then this would sweeten some of the bitterness.

Is this a wind-up or a whoosh, because that's exactly what STAR say in the statement above made a few days ago.

TBF, the club shouldn't have any need to talk to STAR about this. STAR has it's place, but lets face it, it is a group of amateurs with a membership of a minority of our fans. The club would be just as well off picking a random sample of member card holders with a couple of hundred points or more and asking them their opinion on the ticket allocation.

Reading FC should have the expertise and knowledge of its own fanbase to be able to make these decisions without asking STAR.

The club got it badly wrong. Personally I think it's understandable given our generally small away following. Although Stevenage tickets going so fast and it being the first away FA Cup Quarter Final in virtually forever should have given them a good clue.
