ArchPseud O'Nymprostak There's unfounded rumours and there's demonstrable shite.
Tbf, the Demonstrable Shite forum probably wouldn't get very many posts.
Are you kidding? It would be the permanent home for half the board.

under the tin "id be totally happy for JM to stay forever and never put another penny in myself."/quote brendywendy
"we're ticking along quite nicely"/ quote Zammo.
Whilst it is undeniable that the last decade or so has been the most illustrious in RFC's history, it should not be forgotten that this success built on inward investment by the chairman.
Whilst never bankrolling things on the scale of a Jack Hayward, the old boy was prepared to fund the acquisitions of the like of Murty, Sidwell, Lita, Asaba, etc. when the business was heavily losing money.
He moaned about it, but when push came to shove, he acted.
These steady years of building were supplemented by some inspired "bargain basement" spots by the coaching staff, who when sold on, have helped to keep the club afloat. God only knows what state the club would be in had we done a Wolves, and waited for these cheap punts to establish their reputations, and then had to shell out a few million for them.
It's a kind of Charlie Austin scenario, subtitute his name for Doyle, and a what, 80 000 euro player becomes touted instead as £1.5M. Had we paid this sort of money each for Doyle, Shorey, SHunt, Kitson, we'd need to find another Gylfi a bit sharpish, so we can sell him and avoid the broker's men.
For what it's worth, I believe that we already have a new chairman. The fire in his belly went out a few years ago, and he is no longer prepared to continue in the same vein that got the club to this level in the first place. (his decision, no criticism)
Some of you out there think that we are doing ok with the new austerity regime: I'm of the opinion that the effects of it have not yet kicked in, we had parachute payments, then a gem like Gylfi to capitalise. The business is still not breaking even, and attendances are dwindling. We have done well in buying cheap, and selling for millions. I think it's naive to expect that to continue ad infinitum. I hope I'm wrong, because something will have to "give" to protect the balance sheet in future, JM's not going to do it, so that only leaves the sale of saleable playing assets, and the use of cheaper replacements.
This can only lead to a diminution of playing quality, and the obvious consequences.
To use a hackneyed managerial phrase, JM has taken the club as far as he can. He's presided over the rise, but I doubt that he will want to be presiding over the fall.

What difference does it make if he grew up and still lives/appears in Reading?

It makes a difference if you call him a Reading born multi millionaire which he clearly isn't
I also hear he comes from Polish/FRENCH desendency.

Barry the bird boggler JM was born in Stoke in 1941 (he's going to be 70 next month) and was moved, while still a baby, to a children's home in Reading (his mother's home town). He was soon reunited with his mother and family when she later married a polish airman.

unlucky.
heres an idea.
The next jackpot is £118m.
However there are only some 75m combinations.
As tickets are £2 an investment of £75m should secure 50% of the tickets.
The total prize pot is £150m. Therefore you should win roughly an extra £15m of half of the £30m of other prizes.
I make it out to be risking £50m to win £130m at odds of 50-50.
SJM should totally do this. The £80m profits could be split 50-50 between Mr Mad and RFC.
