IF Long goes.....

by The Prisoner » 08 Apr 2011 17:44

If we don't go up and Long goes who do we get in?

Mackail-Smith from Peterboro or Lambert from Southampton would be my call (assuming one of them doesn't come up)

Any other shouts?

We promote an academy player to fourth choice and proceed with Church Manset and Hunt.

Can't afford either.

Kevin Philips on a one year deal, or some lower league striker. Hunt becomes no.1, Church will continue to be given chances, Manset will hopefully get fitter and push Church for a starting spot, and maybe the idea already is for B.Williams to come on over the summer and push on next season as 4th striker.

I wouldn't expect us to spend any considerable amount of money on a replacement.

...are players we can't afford, Jason Scotland excluded.

Would love Iwelumo though.

What worries me is that we'll miss the speed/power/chasing down element
of Long's play. Manset is probably the future. He's not slow. Was impressed by one
he made at Barnsley, but I doubt if he'd ever be a Long-Type run-all-day player.

He looks like (unfortunately) an ideal 1 in the 451 as he's so damn wide and has good control.

Anyway, let's talk about who will partner Longy in the PREM. That's less depressing

Someone like CMS or even Hume would be a good workhorse replacement if we can get Manset scoring goals.

If we don't go up I'd be happy to see Manset and Hunt starting together though

If we can get Manset fit enough to play up on his own, then we only need to convert Hunt properly into playing in the hole or pick up a goalscoring attacking midfielder to replace Long's goals.

So that would be one player who looks unfit and another who has an abysmal fitness record.
Not sure I go along with that.

I understand we are after Craig Davies from Chesterfield who is out of contract at the end of the season.

This could be a clever bit if business if we get him. Looks a very very good striker.

Your link isn't working.
You need to put the [ URL ] and [ /URL ] tags before and after it.. (without the spaces I put in..) all I can see now is a broken link where much of the link is replaced by .... so it doesn't work.

No you don't. Usually you just paste it in. Here you go:

Some outstanding finishing. Would love this guy here.

roadrunner No you don't.

Yes, you do. Because if the link is too long some of the letters can be replaced with ... to shorten it, and then if the last bit is truncated off, the link no longer works.

AND - holy shit that guy was GOOD!!!!

Bit right footed. What's his left for? Standing on?
