Platypuss "Brian McDermott told Reading Player that both Hal and Jimmy will travel to Cardiff for the game on Tuesday. "We'll leave it as late as we have to," he said. "

I hope Kebe's not travelling by coach!

If neither he nor HRK fit, rather than Hunt on the wing, how about Long on the wing and Hunt in the centre?

Long would give their fullbacks an absolutely torrid time and could still cut inside to shoot.

This is a joke right? Long needs to step up, he was very lazy again on Friday.

Assuming Kebe and HRK are out, it does make it a tough decision for McDermott as Antonio was shocking against Derby. My feelings are he'll go 4-5-1 and Church or Hunt will play wide right.

Long lazy on Friday night? You're joking right? He ran himself into the ground chasing endless balls that we pumped down the channels.

Think Long would be great right side and we'd have three strikers playing

'greed

Had a good game hustling and bustling without any help from Hunt who was, quite frankly, a passenger

Makes no sense to me to shift our strong hardworking goalscorer out wide, even if it has been half a dozen games since he scored. Hunt has put in some great crosses this season but is not a winger. Church has played out wide, but has looked pretty poor when he does iirc.

Antonio is not up to starting and Taylor looked ok going forward against Derby, but very weak tracking back. Against Cardiff we'll need better than those two. Cummings is a decent shout, I'd consider Karacan as he's fairly pacey, good defensively and has put in some good crosses from wide right this season.

Shame Davies has been released, he had pace and power + experience and could maybe have done a job in a one off, especially to help put himself in the shop window.

If neither are fit then a change of formation is necessary and start with Long, Hunt and Church

4-3-3 with Howard starting.

Maguire If Bellamy felt his hamstring badly enough to go off after 16mins then I think it's unlikely that he'll play on Tuesday. Four days isn't really enough time. I guess they might risk him but with pace players like that you're taking a hell of a chance as the hamstring is so susceptible to injury.

Big boost for Reading if he's out.

Massive boost. Worringly for us though is we could be missing Hal Robson-Kanu who was our best player until he went off injured and we may be without Kebe again. Widthwise we're a bit stuffed without one or both. Let's hope McAnuff shows up.

Dropping McAnuff? Our strength all season has been wing play, I would be deeply concerned at then playing so narrow without two of our best attacking players.

Maguire Or Hunt out wide with Howard in as a third central midfielder.

Hunt is a good striker but doesn't do much out wide from the little I've see of him there. In fact I don't remember a striker ever being goo out wide. Much as I love Coppell for me one of his biggest mistakes was playing Doyle wide right when he ws obviously rubbish there.

McAnuff was immense at right wing against Sheff Utd in the first half but the the whole team fell apart. Don't know about the left but would like to see him right if we're stuffed for options.

I suspect we may see Kebe and Bellamy on the bench only to be brought on if either side is losing and desperate.

NR_Royal
Sarah Star I like the idea of Church on the wing if we have to have someone out of position, but has he played there for us before?

Didn't he make his debut on the wing?

I think he played there against Barnsley as well where he was completely ineffective and tended towards the centre, so we had no right side AT ALL.

Fair point, but if we're seriously considering a forward on the wing instead of Antonio, then Church > Hunt.

Anyway, you're all missing the obvious selection of our most skillful, most complete player on the RHS - BORIS.

If Kebe & Bellamy are both out then could well be another 0-0 and penalties.

That extra bit of pace & class was what both sides lacked on Fri.
