In my opinion..... Long is better than Doyle.

Sidwell and Leigertwood would be an interesting combo.....

Funnily enough, I was thinking that against Cardiff, that a midfield pairing of Leigertwood and Sidwell would be rather immense.

Couldn't and wouldn't happen anyway.

Agree with this, ryan bertrand at left back, Mckail Smith upfront and possibly new winger and Kish would give us a good chance to stay up

We might as well sign Doyle, Harper, Kitson, Sonko, Hahnemann etc...Christ how long are these type of threads going to carry on for. Why can't you just move on like everyone else.

Sarah Star McDermot said, at one of the fans' forums, that the only one from the Championship winning side of 2005/6 he'd have back was Sidwell.

Did he mention any particular reason for this?
Doyle back would be great but better stop dreaming!

I'm not completely sure, but I seem to remember it being something to do with needing someone strong to boss the midfield. When we got Leigertwood, I assumed it was for a similar purpose.

He spent a long time outlining how he thought Sonko hadn't been the same since a cruciate injury too.

Archie's penalty Doyle back would be superb.

Why? failed, failed, failed at the top level.

See Snowballs (cannot believe I am saying this) stats.

Great for us few years back not done since

Sidwell has finally signed for a club where he can justify regular first team football and SURPRISE!!! SURPRISE!!! he's having his first decent season since he left us.

I would be prepared to forget his mentally challenged observations regarding our lack of ambition if he was prepared to sign a long term contract so he can't fcuk off for free for at least 4 years..............................don't hold your breath.

And whoever thinks we should re-sign "Couldn't give a sh*t" Shorey .........................words fail me :|

The Goat was fed It's a weird one this...in theory I'd have them all back - but it just so rarely works that I wouldn't have any of them back. The two players I would have most liked to have "come back" the season after we got relegated was Kitson and Little, it happened...be careful what I wish for.

Yeah but Little was older, injury prone, and out of form and match practice. Kitson was older, ruined by injury, out of form and out of match practice.

Of any of the players still going who've left I'd take Bertrand, Sigurdsson and probably Sidwell back. Doyle would be a maybe. Harper if we're still in the chump. Otherwise it's thanks but no thanks.

I'd hate to have Doyle back- the thought of him trying hard and getting nowhere near scoring for us would be awful - and haven't really forgiven Shorey for his efforts in his last year with us, but Sidwell was different and always played well.

However we would be buying the Sidwell of 2011, who has spent considerable time out injured and probably lost lots of pace since 2007, so I would still say no.

Spot on Woodcote. Shorey had a major strop the last few months he was with Reading and I have never seen him play to the same level since.

Let's bring back Paul Brayson and Jimmy Crawford too ...

Svlad Cjelli Why would we? Turning the click back never works.

(qv Coppell's desperation loan signing of Kitson & Little)

not true. He's still a decent player so if we had the chance to bring him back we should consider it. Is he better than the midfielders here? yes he is.
