Both anthems, I brought this up in another thread. Wondered what the general opinion was on this?

I know GSTQ is British but I'm sure in Rugby they have a different one? Otherwise I can't see why they would remove it?

Oh fvck off. The quality of it is irrelevant.

The welsh play in the English league, why would the English national anthem offend people who want to play in OUR league. If it does, go and play in wales in their own league.

National anthem should be played, embarrassing decision if its played at the other games and not ours.

What the source of this, can't be legit surely?

Svlad Cjelli FTR, this "tradition" that people love so much actually ended in 2003!

http://news.bbc.co.uk/1/hi/wales/3051079.stm
and it took you 15 hours to find something to force home your point.

FWIW

To me its a sing song...the content of the song is irrelevent..............the coming togetherness of players and fans is a goose-pimply moment.
A moment that only games such as ours at a venue such as Wembley can replicate. It was in '88 and it was in '95

You've made your stand (oh strangely named one....or were you once Dirkers)

.........so will the RED FLAG FLYING do the same job for us, as the teams line up?......

..............you sing, we will follow....

and ultimately, so what, if GSTQ p1sses the Welsh (and especially you) off. I think that you will find that the majority that are there, will want it played and will join in on the day.........regardless of its elitetist conutations(sic).

there's a (half) reasonable arguement going on, on the club policies board.

Row Z Royal
Svlad Cjelli Is this a football match or a nationalist/political rally?

Let's all play 'spot the Republican'.

HELLO! *waves*

I'm an atheist, too, so zero interest in singing the most dirgeful and meaningless anthem in the world. Why can't we have something fun like the Marseillaise? We get a bedtime prayer, the French are all swearing eternal brootherhood and to keep fighting until they're drowing in Royalist blood.

Well, go and cross the channel if it really bothers you!

whilst i strongly believe the royal family should be strung up by their f*cking necks - I am struggling to understand why the British national anthem (as much as I hate it for the trite dirge that it is) shouldn't be played?? its the national anthem not the English national anthem surely, maybe i'm missing something

Are national anthems banned in champions league games because they offend the opposing team? no. so why should it be any different here?

for christs sake the spackers don't even understand it's their anthem to. if they don't oxf*rd like it then they should go back to their oxf*rd league.

its OUR league they should play by OUR rules. why should we break our backs just to make them happy?
