I don't get why people would actively want Howard out, maybe not rate him particularly highly, but he's hadhad plenty of positives as well as negatives.

honest enough player, good work rate but gives away possession all too easily and goes missed for large periods of games. if he left he wouldn't be missed. tabb is better and doesn't play enough for me. i wouldn't offer to drive the lad away but he is more suited to league one football or a bottom third championship side. we're very strong in midfield and have obita and taylor knocking on the door to compliment the rest.

Tabb is completely different.

for coventry tabb spent time playing a more successful deeper role, but also played wide right and behind supporting the striker(s). tabb has also at times covered the deeper role here and also been pushed behind the forwards. tabb is the better passer of the ball and the better tackler; I haven't seen enough of him in the advanced position to rate him there, but to suggest they're completely different types of player isn't quite accurate.

Whereas he has the ability, just not seen enough from him to justify keeping him here. Always looks as if he could, and should, do better.

Huddersfield are supposedly interested in a Saints midfielder so it could mean Howard going to Saints or Pompey as previously thought.

Don't know why people don't rate Howard. I would rather we kept him. He can play in that role behind the striker and he has a decent range of passing.

3 goals in 54 (+13) appearances.

Not the stats of a "forward minded" midfielder.

Becuase he hasn't played in that position very often. And anyway it isn't just about scoring goals, it is also about creating them and I think his stats in that department stack pretty well compared to the other central midfielders we have.

Dont really understand the hatred of Howard on here. He was good the season before last and wasnt exactly given many chances last season

He isnt great but he gives us a different option and pops up with assists as well.

I've said before on here that although I quite like some of what Howard does, his strengths aren't quite good enough to counter his weaknesses for me.

He's never really established himself in the Championship and I think that pretty much sums him up. He's a decidedly average Championship midfielder who isn't quite good enough for a decent side at this level.

WR, his creativity stats are probably boosted by his involvement in set pieces. That might make him look a little more effective as a creative force than he really is. He can work the ball around well at times though.
