If he doesn't agree with our valuation, he should get 'real' and pay up or move on.

I have to say 3M or Mills is a bit insulting.

We paid 2M (although in truth probably less than that as we all know) but even if it was say 1.5M plus add ons - Mills is a much better player today and I would have thought 4-5M would be more realistic for him. Commanding CB’s are few and far between.

Also several other clubs such as Stoke and Blackburn will be looking for CB's, so why would Reading agree 3M now when there is a chance of much more before 31st Aug.

I n any case I hope Mills signs a new contact and stays - although by the sound of it the chances of keeping him are quite slim.

if he doesnt like the price then go away...rather than bleat to the media about clubs getting "real" .....i think Johnson is way overvalued but equally think Mills is undervalued.....I would like to think his comments refer to the Johnson valuation and not that of Mills ......they'll still be in a relegation dogfight next season whatever happens...especially now that SHunt is fully fit :D

Royal Lady Bollox.

You don't like him, you say as much all the time on here.

I have no idea whether he thinks a lot of himself or not, but I don't go around saying anything on here like it's fact.

Not bollox. I don't like him. That has nothing to do with what I said in the post you're being petty about.

RL, Ians a bit miffed and envious that Mills has a tasty girlfriend ...thats all it is..nothing to do with football :D

Extended-Phenotype

But trust us to sell our captain without batting an eyelid. I hope JM remembers we need at least 11 players left to field a team.

Here we go again with the annual half witted HNA view of the transfer market.

Apparently Reading are not allowed to sell any players in the close season - and have to buy a whole new team.

Why is it that after all these years there are still those who think that the club has no plan when it comes to buying and selling - when it clearly does?

Agreed. No one's forcing wolves to sign him!
I actually think Johnson's a good player. A far better footballer than Mills, but not as commanding. They'd make a great centre back pairing!
If we do lose Mills, than Pearce steps right in.
Still think we could use a bit of pace at the back though...

i think I prefer the I'm pissed of at him giving other people the finger argument. Both are utterly ludicrous. I couldn't care less which pretty dumb bimbo he's bonking.

LOL at anyone considering signing Roger Johnson without signing Scott Dann as well.

I think people forget that ingi was club captain up until a couple of weeks ago- Mills was effectively stand in. Although a semi permanent stand in.

I still think his ego will want him to stay and be new club captain - together with all the kudos that brings. School visits, supermarket openings, a seat at the chairman's table and a better parking space at Hogwood...

I'm fairly sure we bought someone's Captain, I have a suspicion it was Brian Howard.....?
Or am I barking up the wrong tree?

Jay Tabb, Andy Griffin was captain for awhile, but I doubt Stoke cared that we took him off their hands.

Mr Morgan is a huge Liverpool fan! He tried to buy his way into the club there about 5 years ago and caused a lot of ructions to the point where his associates and known sympathisers were barred from entering the board room and some of the corporate areas by David Moores (owner at the time)

I have met him a couple of times in business and he believes 100% in driving value from whatever he does. He built Redrow Homes up from nothing and then transferred his shares before he got divorced so that his wife couldn't get his hands on them as part of the settlement. Interesting character, but one that will simply walk away on principle if he doesn't think the price is right.

If he thought that was going to work he must be a bit of a plank. A very rich one, but a plank nonetheless.

Around the £100,000,000 mark she got wasn't it?

"Get real with transfer fees" says the chairman who sanctioned the £3m purchase of SHunt

....obviously had a weak moment :)

Mills is worth more than Shunt is ...and seeing that they have openly stated they are desperate for central defenders , it wont help their bargaining position imho

But defenders tend to sell for less than strikers and midfielders. £3-4m for Matt Mills is great and we only paid £1m for him don't forget. The other potential million was based on promotion and other extras.
