TBM We have Howard too remember.....as much as i like Karacan, he doesn't score enough goals and we need someone from the centre of the park banging them in next season.

He's 22. There's plenty of room for growth in the goalscoring department.

Scoring goals is usually something that is naturally part of your game, or not as the case may be.

Karacan, like Church but to different degrees, has never really been prolific.

How many seasons has Karacan played? Seems a bit ridiculous when he is still a youngster to say that he 'has never really been prolific'.

I think Hoop Blah is talking about even when he was a youth/reserve player

I would be pissed off if we lost Karacan - he was a first-team player - but I really enjoyed the anti-Reading vitriol on the Brighton board. It's nice to have local rivals again.

Is it my imagination or are Reading suddenly starting to sell the family silver? Have they got money troubles does anyone know?

A genuinely interesting post from their forum.

The more I read though, the more I LOL, they really hate us... how pathetic.

"suddenly"?

We've been selling our most valuable players to generate funds for ages now. It's just how we make money. Everyone should read Moneyball (alternatively watch the film out this summer I believe)

An interesting post from their forum.

there has been no bid received for any of our players from brighton.

reference the above, john madejski is, i'm told, repaying the numerous loans he's made to the club at a quicker rate than in the past. is it because he wants the club debt free for the future sale of the club or is it because rfc is currently the only business of his doing well and he wants to make his money back while these high end sales last. it feels to me that he isn't the same chairman he was pre-premership. it may be that he's just had enough now, but we can't get away with bargain signings forever, and the academy wont continue to spit out stars either, and this bubble will eventually burst and we'll return to the third tier very soon if we continue on this path. losing faith very fast with john madejski and the manner in which we sell and do not reinvest.

It's not that the academy won't continue to spit out stars, because it very well could, it's that we can't rely on it doing so.

This will not happen. I don't want to see any of our young first teamers leave now that the latest black hole has been infilled.

I don't understand all their hate, I get the notion that we signed a bunch of their players over a extended period of time, but then Wolves have done that to us ;-) and we don't hate them. (for those reasons at least... I remember some anti-Wolves fans abuse once, something about being spat on.)

iirc weren't fans of clubs polled once and asked who they felt were their biggest rivals, and Bournemouth voted US?? Seems just as random.

I like the "local rival" thing again, but they aren't even local! I bet they are excited to be playing bigger teams again regularly.

I love the way our local rivalries are so tenuous because we've not consistently been competing with anyone in particular. The fact that the likes of Swindon, Oxford, Wycombe, Brighton, Brizzle, Aldershot & Bournemouth all hate us is just a sign of how jealous they are that we've been consistently better than them for 10 - 15 years or more. By a massive margin in some cases.

And all because they once played in the top flight or got to a major final once or something and we were shit for a 120 years. Guess what suckers.... shit changes.

Not only that, but if Brighton are our local rivals we may as well include Coventry and Birmingham.

There's only animosity because of South Today coverage and their self importance.

I quiote like Brighton.... in a poor relation, smaller cousin sort of condescending way. :P

Live in a shithole- Check
Plastic fans- Check (Your East Stand is one of the most cringeworthy things I have ever seen)
Sponsored by Waitrose- Check
Soulless bowl of a ground- Check
Physio for a manager- Check
Chairman that has wanted out for 3 years+ - Check
No history- Check

1) Bit rich, brighton might be a hole with culture but its still a hole nonetheless
2) East stand? Bit of a weird example, considering what the other stands are like. And considering how many plastic fans will turn up in Falmer next season
3) Thats just a fact?
4) WITHDEAN?!?!? and obviously their new stadium is gonna have so much more soul than the Mad Stad?
5) uncheck, when have we ever had a physio for a manager...
6) pretty happy that he'd want to find us someone with bigger pockets thank you
7) err coming from Brighton?

I loved it one of the times we played Bournemouth. They bought millions of fans and were miles ahead, then Caskey beat them on his own in the last few minutes. It really did seem like we had some local rivals again.

Physio for a manager- Check
Bless, confusing us with Scunny (two or three months ago). They're so quaint and provincial.

And I hope are reading this and get nice and outraged.
