SPECULATION - Josh Thompson - Celtic

by royal67 » 12 Jul 2011 14:01

Apparently Neil Lennon is keen to get this chap out on loan this season. A 20 year old central defender, spent last season on loan at Rochdale..... Worth a punt to provide some cover...??

Not really the kind of signing we need as we've got two inexperienced young centre halfs already.

Furthermore, why would Celtic send him here to get more experience if he's not going to play. He'd be better off dropping down in standard not stepping up!

Good shout on the 'stepping up' reference..... Just thought that it might be worth a punt if Celtic were paying the majority of his wages. A player for 'free' can't be a bad thing....

Naaaaahh please remember Darren Pass-Back O'Dea.......he was from the 'tic and (as the name suggests) all he did was kick the ball back to the keeper - if he went over the half-way line the physio practically had to come on & stem his nose bleed absolute ....ess aitch one tee

I thought O'Dea looked pretty good bar one truely awful mistake.

Certainly wouldn't call Pearce inexperienced!

Kitson12 Certainly wouldn't call Pearce inexperienced!

No? In that case I'd suggest you probably don't quite understand what experience is.

It's a bit misleading. He's got 57 league starts for us at this level. I wouldn't say he's particularly experienced, but he's certainly not inexperienced either.

Playing 100 games here and there is, at least in my eyes, still inexperienced as a league footballer, especially a defender.

He's not played a full season as such yet, and dealing with the ups and downs of a season (whilst in the team) is what gives you experience, not just playing a few games in runs of 5s and 10s etc.

I think he's got a really good attitude and seems to be one who will learn well from the experiences he's had, but I'd maintain it's still a level of inexperience.
