Rumour - David "Badwillie" Goodwillie

by Z175 » 28 Jul 2011 14:05

Scottish press is stating 8 Championship sides are chasing Dundee Utd striker David Goodwillie. He recently had rape charges dropped and has been in and out of the courts so is believed to want to leave the Scottish goldfish bowl, despite old firm interest.

I wonder if we could be interested. With Shane poised to leave we are yet to be linked with a striker, other than HRK being talked up.

Despite only being 22, he got 19 goals and set up 10 more in 47 starts last season and scored 13 in 31 the season before. His main assets are blistering pace and clinical finishing, and Dundee Utd's asking price is £2m.

Considering Noel Hunt managed 13 in 37 and 10 in 27 in his two years at Tannadyce, and was 2 years older than Goodwillie is, surely this could be our answer?

Fair enough the SPL is a poor league and Kris Boyd, the all time record scorer, failed in the Championship, but I think Goodwillie could do it. Scoring that many goals for a non-old firm side is impressive considering who he was playing with.

His youth international record is impressive too.

Just don't want him....We already have Kanu,Obita coming up and we need a player with experience on the pitch only

OKay....

McDermott is regarding Kanu as a striker because when not if Shane Long leaves he will say we have lots of strikers therefore his excuse for not buying a striker.

Next season our strikers will be: Hunt,Manset,Kanu,Church,Williams,Kanu,Bignall.

I can only see Hunt scoring 10+ goals next season.

We are going to go down with this strike force

See, my electrifying, epoch-defining, not to mention entirely original joke has made it into the thread title. I can rest satisfied.

The standard of the SPL is dire. I could score 19 goals. Doubt he would make the grade in the Championship

The way his is described by Scots I know, then sounds like another Friday, was going to be the saviour of Jock football, but just turned into a complete Dick.

Apologies, it was a poor translation from the original Scots.

I (in the last football season) spent 6 weeks in Scotland and the standard of Scottish football is equivalent to perhaps Div1 (i.e. one division below us) and that is from the TV matches. Lord knows what a wet Tuesday evening in Aberdeen produces? However a good player prolly wouldn't perform on some cleggy mudbath but might do well on a proper pitch (if London Irish haven't ruined it of course)
