Listening to matches away from Reading

by alderdude » 04 Aug 2011 13:42

I'm hoping i don't get people having a go for me posting it on the team board as i see sometimes, just want someone who may have info to give to me. So i'm off to uni in September and was wondering if theres any way to listen to bbc berks away from Reading for the actual matches. normally if you try listen online to a match it stops just before kick-off so was wondering if anyone knows how to listen to any match online. I Know myp2p for matches what are on tele and that but if i don't find a way my cousins gonna be pissed off with me constintly texting him for updates :P

cheers.

You pay your £35 for a season of Reading Player and listen to it on there. It's not as bad as some people will let you believe on here. This is the only way. Simples.

I had this problem last year... just about to go into my second year at uni.

I always listened to the prematch build up on bbc berks online in the hope that they might be nice and continue the coverage into the match... but every time about 30seconds after kick off "unfortunately..."

However, there was one match where they forgot to cut it off, I think it was the Everton FA Cup match... what a lovely evening that was, listening to Reading win on BBC Berks :D

Considering paying for this Reading Player thing this season, what else do you get other than audio match coverage and video highlights afterwards?

Don't think they forget to cut it off - FA Cup internet broadcast rights are different to League internet broadcast rights.

Aren't there some internet sites where you can actually watch FL games as they take place?

That's what I thought, but then they also cut off Stevenage and Man City iirc.

i know one where you can watch any prem match, has the occasional FL match on it but it's a rarity that Reading are on it, may consider Reading player. Wait and see how bad the withdrawal is from lack of RFC

Last season there was also the full matches uploaded on the RP to watch about 2 days after they were played. So you could try to avoid the scores and just watch the games on a Tuesday afternoon instead.

You'd be welcome to join the cool kids in the Hob Nob chatroom, whilst listening to the game I'm sure.

Yeah listen to this guy^ He only listens to the games on the radio, yet still manages to form a detailed opinion on them.

They might stay online tho this season as I think that 107fm used to have the rights and I don't think they are covering Reading games this season.

I find it very doubtful, that a radio station run from the stadium, which provides a pay for internet commentry service, will stop covering Reading games.

Surely this is just a list of radio stations? Even you try and listen to the broadcast in the UK, it'll still say the same thing as it would on BBC iPlayer?

I think I've got a bit of money for Reading World this season. Sick of shouting at the tele Gillette Football Saturday..

Anyone who has it, is it recommened?

Seems a bit expensive to pay £35 to "listen", when people want to watch football live. Its not like Sky will loose out, as they do not show many Reading games anyway. Those whom live far away from Reading would not attend the matches, but I suppose the problem would be streaming. But I would not mind paying to watch games live on the Internet. (Would never pay for Sky, though...)

If you know somebody in Reading who has this internet thing then it'll be pretty easy for him (or her) to sort you out.

Unless that dude's link up there works, in which case crack on I suppose.

I have Reading Player or what ever it's called and I do recommend it, the video highlights are excellent, usually around 5-6mins in length, so you could listen at Uni and then watch extended highlights, worth it for £35
