I'd far rather see him go for nothing at the end of the season. We can just about cope if he goes. But he is our main matchwinner, and even when he's not producing goals he's causing defences all sorts of problems.

I bet if you ask any full back in the Championship which of our wingers they would least like to face, his name would begin with Jimmy and end with Kebe.

Everyone is entitled to their opinion but, frustrating and inconsistent though he is, our team will be better if Jimmy stays and I am really surprised anyone thinks differently. It's great to be excited about a young player but if Obita turns out to be as good as we are all hoping he will get his chance soon enough without expecting him to take over from one of our top players already.

We are currently in the bottom five of the Division and can ill afford to lose yet another of our best players.

andrew1957 If Kebe goes I would imagine McAnuff would switch to the right and HRK back from forward to the left side. It might not be the end of the world if it does happen - McAnuff has looked better on the right in the past and HRK is our form player of the moment.

McAnuff can't even beat a man by cutting inside from the left onto his right at the moment so I'd give him no chance of having the guile or pace to beat a full back on the outside if he was to play on the right.

The words 'disaster', 'recipe' and 'for' spring to mind

Worrying development this, and I'm not sure the club can do much about it other than let him go if true...I'd be willing to bet that whatever we can offer him in wages they'll be able to beat it hands down and once the player wants to go then what's the point in hanging on, particularly with a player like Kebe who blows hot and cold - if he doesn't want to be here then I can't believe we'll see much of the Kebe that can terrify opposing defences....

Worst thing is I'm not sure that we'll have time to get anyone new in if he does go.......

Fordham all over it too.

Will be fuming if he goes. Game changing player must stay at Reading.

Give him a new contract.

We don't start looking for replacements until we have taken a month to prove the players we have aren't good enough. Look what happened with Long and Mills when they were sold. At least we can use the loan market in a few weeks.

What will make me laugh (or cry) now if it happens is that McDermott will then say that HRK's best position is on the wing after all. We have to hope people's faith in Obita is justified as he will get plenty of sub appearances at the very least. Who knows he might deliver the goods - big ask though.

If the sale does go through it is really going to feel like the Club is going backwards at the moment if it doesn't already. Everyone connected with the Club (except SJM and the ones who support him ahead of the team itself) badly needs a lift from somewhere.

Look, there are half a dozen professional clubs folding every week, we MUST sell to fill that black hole.

He's been offered a contract but he's not signing it presumably because he wants to see who comes in for him before deadline day. So if the rumours are true about Leicester then what would you do?

1. Improve the contract to a level above what he could get at Leicester given that we know they're paying wages well beyond our structure?
2. Turn down any bid and hope that Kebe will sign the current deal on offer rather than see out the final year in a sulk and bugger off for nowt at the end of the year
3. Take the money on offer and lose our main match-winner without any time to find a replacement.

Not sure there's an easy answer to be honest.

I'd probably sell Kebe - would mean we can keep Obita beyond next pre-season

Sorry but that's bollocks - the Mills money filled most of the "black hole"; the Long money completed that and then made further funds available to make the signings over the last couple of weeks, and they were all done within 15 days of Long going....

In this case, I hope the club have known that something was afoot, and have made contingency plans for a quick signing tomorrow (I suspect they will have, but if Kebe does go to Leicester, it won't leave long to tie up any loose ends)...

If true that Leicester have offered 4M and Kebe wants to go, then I don't think the club has a choice but to let him. A fed up Kebe will not perform and then he would walk next summer anyway.

If he goes I very much doubt we will buy anyone tomorrow, because as I said earlier Le Fondre is the replacement for HRK - who will revert to first choice LM (McAnuff on the right). Whether this is good enough in the Championship only time will tell. We will most likely tap into the loan market if not.

I have been critical of the club on other transfer issues, but I don't think there is anything they could have done about this one. They offered Kebe a new contract months ago and he has obviously chosen to keep his options open until the transfer window shuts.

At least the black hole for 2017/18 will also be filled!

It does make you wonder if there has been a lot of uncertainty (and bad feeling) behind the scenes which could account for our poor start. Hopefully come 1st Sept we will have players left who actually want to play for the club.

If Leicester offer I'd far rather pay him to rot in the reserves for a year than let them have him.
