He can sign for someone at anytime though so the transfer window closing doesn't make any difference to his situation.

A lot of contracts pay up until 31 August unless the player gets another club. As he can be signed anytime then its in no ones interests, least of all his, to sign before 1 september.

From his previous tour of duty in the championship, I suspect many will steer clear. Probably will get a prem squad position or go back north of the border.

Although given McDermott ruled out Alfie, maybe hes at the mad stad right now!

I saw him at Thomas Land (which is part of Drayton Manor) with his kid and a couple of other blues players and their kids over the summer. Seemed pretty happy enjoying himself.

He wants to stay in England and I'm sure he'll find a reasonable offer from someone, either in the Premier League or at one of the top spending Championship clubs. I can't imagine that will be us though unfortunately.

Same goes for James Beattie, although much less likely to end up back in the Premier League I'm sure someone in the Championship will give him a deal soon.
