The area around the stadium is drab

by Stuka » 14 Sep 2011 16:43

I realise it's a bit too far away from centre of town for much in the way of permanent businesses, but I reckon even if it was just open for match days they should build some pubs and bars and things, maybe some shops and one of those all you can eat Chinese buffets.

To be used maybe one or two days a week maximum? How would that work?

Well, it was a sewage farm only 15 yrs ago or sludge beds or something vile. But I agree it could do with a good little newsagents, an honest chippy and old boozer 3 minutes walk away. And Green Park station open.

How about if they built a casino, and/or a concert venue to lure punters to the area during the week. Also they could link in the stadium complex to the shops down the hill, where the B&Q is and that.

Why don't we move the ground to an area between, say, Oxford Road and Tilehurst Road?

Shitloads of pubs and chippys.

Hah. Better for me still would be if they bought the old Highbury ground and did an 'MK Dons' on the site of Arsenal's former home. They'd have to knock down the modern flats but it's doable. It'd save me a fortune on train fares.

Serious. Hence the always large police presence, can be a nasty atmosphere when the roasted spuds run low

They should build a bar with a large covered area and a massive screen outside like they have at Man Citeh. It's a great way to meet mates or other like minded fans and relax before a game. Wouldn't need to serve alcohol, just soft drinks and snacks, maybe a little bit of club merch too! Would definitely be a good alternative to the overly cramped concourses which smell of wee!

I think the modern term for one of these is a 'fan-park'.

Yeah I must admit, part of my original point was there's nowhere around the ground to get a pint other than in the stadium itself. Going to football without beer is unthinkable.

I think this all the time, will make life easier when green park station is sorted out, but I agree a couple of pubs in the area are a must!
Can't ever see it happening though.....

Two bars outside the ground.

One for the away fans. One for the homes fans.

Stick it under a marquee. Jobs a good'un.

They could get Zero Degrees to run it - £20 for a 5L mini keg, although I doubt the boys in blue would be too happy about that sort of offer!
