Ok, maybe I need to have a re-think....

The fan-park will have a drink as much as you like tent, you pay just £5 for a Simod cup shaped glass and you can re-fill as much as you like! It's a pour your own system with non-watered down lager, a selection of locally produced ales, and strongbow for the ladies! It will also serve mini-cheddars and hob nobs....

Better?

No white wine, some ladies will not be happy with just cider.

Svlad Cjelli To be used maybe one or two days a week maximum? How would that work?

Wigan's ground is in a retail park not dissimilar to the Madejski and that somehow manages to sustain a pub.

Stuka I realise it's a bit too far away from centre of town for much in the way of permanent businesses, but I reckon even if it was just open for match days they should build some pubs and bars and things, maybe some shops and one of those all you can eat Chinese buffets.

Tbh, there is absolutely nothing to commend a visit to the Madejski is there. Nowhere decent to drink anywhere remotely close to the Stadium, although you can have an overpriced beer in a hotel foyer or a Jazz-music themed bar.....NO THANKS. It's not even as if the football makes the traipse down to the ground worthwhile.

Was starkly aware of the limited amenities around the ground again on Tuesday as I got a lift to the game rather than my usual bus ride from the Nag's. Starving hungry having come straight from work and settled for the chip van (chips rated C-)

A large, perhaps inflatable temporary Wetherspoons is urgently needed if only on matchdays.

I know this is mainly about food and drink but following from the title of the thread...

I don't know what anyone else thought but those massive pictures that Brighton had of former players round the back of their stadium was quite cool. It's just copying someone else but who cares? I'd stick a load of those around the back of the east stand for a start.

Also on either side of the two roads leading up to the stadium a pair of replica Forbury Lions would look pretty impressive.

Because in fairness apart from a few flags outside the club shop, the odd poster and the "bricks in the wall" the place has always been a bit lacking (like most out of town new stadiums)...

I like this a lot.

Also think that we should make more of the wind turbine as an icon. Perhaps we could illuminate it blue when we play at home, a bit like the Allianz Arena.

Dunno if we could get away with that, but actually a bit more blue lighting outside the stadium on match nights would be make it look pretty erm... majestic.

Good ideas. Also dramatic wartime style searchlights beaming into the sky on evening games would make the occasion that much more glamourous.

We haven't erected a statue yet. Most Clubs by now have one, a sort of focal point at the front of the stadium. There can be only one candidate: Jimmy Kebe.

Stuka
ZacNaloen Two bars outside the ground.

One for the away fans. One for the homes fans.

Stick it under a marquee. Jobs a good'un.

Would be good if run independently from the Club.

Why would the club allow an independent enterprise to sell to their customers on their doorstep?

Totally, I'd drape blue banners from the roof of the stadium with the club logo on as well...

well if the stadium gets expanded, then expand the Jazz to a greater capacity, offer the away support the option of a purpose built pub under the South Stand, put some bouncy castles in for them if the get too excited and celebrate the club history around the circuit (Brighton seemed to manage this).

Alternate blue/white lighting beamed down from the outer edge of the stands, fixed point massive LCD screens on loops of previous season clips, effectively pumping up the support from outside the ground. Hopefully the exterior will look less prefab than it is.

I'm guessing the areas around the stadium, the retail parks and industrial estates are subject to free market economics (I may be wrong).

Here's an idea, why not stick a hotel next to the ground and have a bar in it

That way its used all year and on the odd occasion there is football game (what 30 days out of 365) the fans could use it?

or how about we stick a bar/restaurant in the home end somewhere, just for our own supporters?
