2 minute silence

by murts_the_god » 06 Nov 2011 13:07

I presume the 2 minute silence will be held today as we don't have a game until the 19th. If not I plead with all fans home and away to just spend 2 minutes of your time maybe before or after the game to remember all our fallen heroes who fought for our freedom and way of life also the brave men and women who are out there on the front line right now.

I believe the West Stand are planning a 90 minute silence.

Apparently United were going to have a 2 minute silence yesterday but Fergie insisted they have 5.

The sea gulls joined in with their chirps as well.

Oh, you are a wit.

Moved to Y21 for this one. It was like a library. So much for the West being the quiet side.

I can recall a very telling image of the West Stand captured in the Championship book of glossy pictures from 05/06. Sidwell has just scored against Stoke and we’re about to hit the 100 point milestone, quite some achievement. In the picture Sid and co go celebrate in front of the West Stand…..where half the crowd are sat down politely clapping

tbf we were already up by that point and Coppell was playing reserve players like Stack, John Halls, and that fella from Brentford who only ever played one game (Robson, Dobson, something like that).

Felt like a training match to me, so no wonder they didn't go batshit crazy

Whilst firstly pointing out that I leap to my feet and jump up and down like a loon when we score, I do believe everyone has the unimpeachable right to act exactly how they like at a game without someone telling them how they think they "should" behave or attempting to belittle them for what they do - and that does go both ways, before any "superfan" interjects.

To wit, "stand up if you love Reading" - used to do it irregularly, now don't do it at all - I don't need to act like a sheep to express my love for the club. I'll sing and clap and chant (or not) as the moment takes me, thanks all the same.

Probably not the best place for it but I'll post it anyway - but I thought it was unforgivable that yesterday one of the Stadium catering staff was in the gassing away on her mobile phone in the G5 entrance walkway all through the silence. Does she have no awareness - or just not care?

She was making the half time coffees just to make sure they are nice and stone cold when handed to you by a mardy teenager 45mins later.

No awareness I suspect, in which case it's forgiveable.

You could also hear them in the vans behind the North Stand - several people looked round to see who was making all the noise only to realise it was coming from outside.
