floyd__streete Whatever happened to this absolute FAILURE of a signing then? Did he play in that epic reserve win against Reading University? Does he go back in Jan so we can sign someone else, providing the financiaLOL bLOLack hoLOLe allows.

Don't LOL too soon. Our current centre back pairing are now just one card each away from suspensions!

mr_number BBC put a little joke into their preview of the Peterborough game, suggesting that "Bongani Khumalo is back in contention".
I think we all know (/hope) this is never going to happen.

Yep. File alongside 'Alan Maybury'.

I think Alan Maybury scored a penalty for St Johnstone yesterday!

Currently out with an ankle injury, he has also lost his place in the South Africa team.

Can this thread be closed and let to fall away into obscurity like Khumalos time at reading?

He obviously has some kind of ability as he is an international and is also on tottenhams books but he was simply so awful for us earlier in the season I had a hard time believing he was a professional footballer, let alone an international. You could have put someone from the crowd in the back line and they would have given a better account of themselves. Utterly dreadful.

Update on Khumalo

Bongani Khumalo played a reserve fixture for Tottenham Hotspur on Tuesday night … but remains on loan at English Championship side Reading.

Khumalo joined The Royals from Spurs for the 2011/12 season, but has found first-team opportunities hard to come by and has not been in the starting XI since August.

Reading do not have a reserve team and so Khumalo has been allowed to play for Spurs while he tries to work his way back to full fitness after an ankle problem. The 24-year-old played on Tuesday night as Spurs beat QPR 6-2.

Khumalo played the first five games of the season for The Royals, but as they struggled to pick up points, he was discarded to the stands.

He has had battles with injury for much of the remainder of the time since then, which have also kept him out of action for Bafana Bafana.

It is still possible that he will seek an exit from Reading in January and the player’s agent, Glyn Binkin, is indeed in England at the moment. Binkin admitted last week that “all options were open” with regards Khumalo’s future.

“Obviously he is an international player and wants to be in the first team,” Binkin said. “He is ready to fight for a place in the team, but if it looks like he will not get back in, then a move elsewhere is an option. In fact, all options are open at this stage.”

I would suggest to his agent that the option to stay at Reading has long since passed.

How the hell did Spurs end up signing him?

Everybody forgetting how well he played at Leicester?, he was superb in that 2-0 win. But best for all parties that he does not extend his loan.

I'll probably get abuse but I don't care. I think he was good, I think if he played next to gorkss and not pearce the partnership would be better!! He has pace and the ability to not hoof!! and yes someone mentioned the Leicester game. I was there and he was very good!

No. But he was an unused sub in their 2-2 draw with Cheltenham four games ago, so that's something I guess.

Just give Cedric time. He'll make it one day.. on to the pitch. I think.

As long as we don't have to give Khumalo time without a drastic and immediate improvement from him should he take the pitch for us again.
