Dunno, Jimmy Quinn did alright. And apparently Noel Hunt is a fair 'keeper.

As WR says, we can't be relying on makeshift players filling in, especially if that means weakening other parts of the side by taking players from there to do a job.

We need round pegs for round holes, and enough of them to make sure we don't have a few holes left over when we lose the odd peg!

Adie Williams was also good value in goal.

I really cannot see us spending much money in January even if the likes of Howard, Williams and Kebe go.

We have lots of young players comng through and I suspect these and the likes of Gunnar will be used to fill any holes - with the option of an emergency loan signing if we are desperate.

The only possible significant signing that I can see would be Siggy on loan until the end of the season if he is indeed superflous to requiremnts at Hoffenheim - but this is unlikely.

Being realistic, I'd be happy with a creative / attacking midfielder, and to fly by the seat of our pants in other areas;

Harte and Morrison to cover CB.
HRK and Obita to cover losing Kebe.

Being unrealistic, I'd like to see:

1) A new striker to partner ALF (one who isn't (a) terrified of the ball, (b) exhausted after putting his shirt on or (c) injured after light jogging.)

2) A winger who can cross a ball.

3) A midfielder who does more than 'work hard' and

4) CB cover.

5) Half time strippers.

1871 Royal
urz13 A winger (cross between kebe and little would be perfect)
A cm (cross between leigertwood and gylfi would be perfect)

Sooooo

Ronaldo and Xavi Alonso then ..... perfect. Look forward to that!

Nice to have the window soon upon us, it'll be nice to see some rumours popping about and the possibility of a new signing in that time.

Personally I think we need an attacking midfield option available so we have a plan B when needed. I'd love to see us sign a good striker with a decent strike rate at this or a slightly lower level. If nothing else I''d like to see us sign someone for the now and not for two years down the road!

Realistically though I'm expecting Khumalo to return to Spurs, for us to maybe sign another centre back on loan and not do anything else whatsoever unless Kebe leaves (not going to happen as he'll cost diddly squat in the summer).

Only other move that is a possibility is Federici going.

Interesting comment from Brian on possible transfers on the OS - a 'let's wait and see' and no outright denial.

Hopeful that we will see a new face or two.

There does seem to be scope for some change. Williams looks to have gone, Khumalo must surely be on his way back to Spurs (but it is a season long loan so we might be stuck with him for the duration). Howard, Gunnarsson, Harte, Griffin and Kebe have contracts coming to an end (?). Plus Taylor, Obita, Morrison are not quite up to the mark and unlikley to move into the team in the short term.

Pretty sure Mills was only on a one year deal as well.

Didn't we pay money for him ?
If so, I'd be surprised if he's only on one year.

It was fairly noteworthy at the time, I don't think we paid much for him if anything, iirc anyway.

..if Kebe goes, I'd like to see us get Kightly in on a permanent ...he's doing well at Watford but would be an ideal replacement for Jimmy..imho

Ideal Hasn't Kightly been injured for about two seasons straight? Knees?

Fitness would be the issue. In terms of quality, a great replacement. I imagine it could only be on loan though. Wolves didn't stick by him through 2 years of injuries only to flog him to a Championship club on the cheap when he returned. He was one of their brightest players and could be a Premiership player if he can return to fitness and form. Which he is doing at Watford.

RH ...nothing to say currently that Wolves won't be a championship club come May :)

Hasn't Kightly turned Watford's season round since he arrived, something like 8 games without defeat?
