BBC website says we havent beaten Watford since 2001 but during the match they said Sidwell had scored a winner since then. Who is right?

Maybe they meant we haven't beaten watford at Vicarage Road since 2001 as I remember a 4-0 home win in 08/09 when it was a bitterly cold night.

sandman Feds 7 - Did what he had to do well as always.
Cummings 6 - Shaky at times will know he should've done better for the OG
Harte 6 - Couple of good free kicks wasn't troubled defensively.
Gorkss 7 - Heading wasn't quite up to standard but improved.
Pearce 7 - He's become a rock at the back.

Kebe 7 - Makes the wrong choices most of the time. Smart play should have lead to Forsyth being sent off.
Kanu 7 - Great cross shouldn't have been on the pitch to make it though.
Tabb 7 - Solid. Did his job quietly without fuss couple of good passes.
Karacan 8 - Did well again. Underrated.

Hunt 8 - Should've had two penalties.
Church 6 - Worked really hard yet again without much luck.

Alf 7 - Scored. Shouldn't have been booked. He needs to improve on the weaknesses in the rest of his game if he starts against Hull.
Antonio 7 - Produced a cross that hints at him actually being a real footballer.

First McCarthy, now ALF, if he had no weaknesses he wouldn't play for us.

Good memory. Looks like it may have been on the box as well as it was on a Friday in January 2009

Given we beat them about three/four years ago under Coppell it's wrong. Unless we're specifically talking about at Vicarage Road in which case it's 2004 for Sidwell's winner. In which case it's still wrong.

Yes it was on the box, I was skiing in Andorra at the time and the owner of the bar where we watched it happened to be a Reading fan and he said before the game me and my mate could have a free shot every time Reading scored, that was 4 free shots of vodka each then 8) Very memorable.

It was a good look at how we'd be under Rodger's as well, unfortunately. Ineffective shit.

As is tonight. My feet and hands are just warming up.
Decent away support in voice tonight which at least warmed the cockles.
Not a classic but after THAT defeat we turned in a decent enough display to deserve the edge. Great fun from the stands watching us close the extra minutes down in the corners :P Some pure comedy going on down there.
That home support was dire. Gave their team nothing to lift them.
Kebe looks out of sorts and isolated from the team. That could be the warning signs.
A well taken goal by him though. First hand goals are flying in now even if we score an own goal.

Which is why I said he needs to improve on them not eradicate them completely. Four goals conceded in a week by McCarthy for Ipswich tsk tsk.

Would that be the same Ipswich that had conceeded 6 in the previous two games? Clearly he's an improvement for their ropey defence.

Saint McCarthy shouldn't concede any goals as he is the Messiah. Meanwhile, in his spare time, Adam Federici likes to drown Kittens in the Thames.

Well done for making up an opinion that doesn't exist. I guess strawmanning is the only chance for you to be convince yourself you're right.

I thought Cummings was better value that a 5. The own goal was a bit unfortunate but it wasn't just bad luck. He knew he had to get a touch because of the looming Watford player but I think he actually misreads either the speed of the delivery or the curve of its flight and therefore catches it too early and with too much boot.

Also thought we were good value for the win, albeit not the prettiest stuff in the history of football.

Fans tonight - Great support

by LoyalRoyalFan » 14 Jan 2012 20:23

Sounded fantastic on the TV. Great support.

The Watford fans are dire. I don't think you can complain about our home support because it's miles better than that.
