Snowball These are my stats, as I see them.

And you preach them as gospel and that everyone else is wrong. We have been here before. You manipulate stats regularly to show what you want them to show. If the official stats illustrated something that you wanted to show then you would use them WITHOUT hesitation.

Your problem is that you can't stand having your stats & opinions questioned. Everyone else is always wrong even when they have shown that not to be the case. You just can't accept or even ackkowledge anyone elses point of view. You just resort to patronising self-serving comments.

Svlad Cjelli
Or the player who constantly makes runs to create space and take defenders out of position, from which someone else scores, gets no credit, whilst the two people who touched the ball last get all the credit.

Hilarious.

First, I have never denied the work of players who neither score or have assists.

Goalkeepers making saves for starters.
Goalkeepers dominating the area.
Goalkeepers acting as sweeper.
Goalkeepers "talking" and organising the defence.
Keepers with excellent distribution.

Defenders making important tackles.
Defenders "talking" and organising the defence.
Defenders covering their team-mates well and simply stopping the killer pass happening.
Defenders finding a fullback in space and doing a simple square ball.
Defenders finding the best midfielder or getting the winger away
Defender making sure they take the man too and make attackers less effective.
Defences playing the offside trap well.

Midfielders finding a great pass though not the final assist
Midfielders with masses of energy getting in the faces of the opposition
Midfield/forward team-work where it takes 2-3-4 challenges before the opposition loses the ball.

Wingers who have to be double-up on.

FBs overlapping even if they don't get the ball.
Forwards running defenders ragged. (And Church at his best is like Long in a very bad day)
Players who motivate their team-mates.

Defenders, midfielders. occasionally strikers who basically intimidate opponents.

Second, when I have brought in acknowledgement of "unofficial" major things
(a dizzy total of three/four "major contributions" so far this season)
I've been pilloried for it.

I played soccer until I was 38 and managed 45 minutes last season
for the fans team aged 64, fatasfock and with a metal knee

I judge strikers primarily on their chances created, shots and goals
followed closely by assists and ONLY THEN do I add in "running ragged'
which IS a part of the game and Long was brilliant at it, MUCH better at
it than Church will EVER be, because Church isn't hard enough, fast enough,
brave enough or committed enough.

One day it's POSSIBLE Church will be a very good striker, MAYBE matching
Long's goals, but it will be in a different way to Long

I'm amused at the way on the one hand people poo-hooh stats but their judgements
are nevertheless BASED on stats.

"He couldn't score in a brothel?" (How do you know? Did you count shots and goals?)

Snowball Let's see if I have this right.

A few criticise my stats because the OS has different stats.

Then I deal with those errors on the OS, so now, I'm still criticised
because the OS stats are dodgy anyway?

Stats in general are dodgy in some way or another, especially in football where they're usually recorded by way of one persons perception on those events.

As I've said, I've got no real problem with your 'MCs' and the way you've added the off extra half-assist. You've been reasonably clear where you're doing it and I think that's reasonably fair.

Where I would say your collection and recording is flawed is that you seem to have taken them from the way a goal is reported in the official sites match reports. This is obviously going to create you problems.

The official stats are as flawed as any, but the fact you have so many less assists for McAnuff is quite odd, however you've tried to justify it.

If you look at current points

and then "Form since 17 September" (after the first six games)

and multiply current form (points per game) by 19 games (20 for Birmingham)

You get this projected final table

53 36.10 89.10 West Ham
49 34.39 83.39 Cardiff

=================================
50 31.73 81.73 Saints
45 32.49 77.49 Hull
42 34.39 76.39 Reading
43 34.20 75.20 Birmingham

==================================
42 31.73 73.73 Leeds
45 28.12 73.12 Boro
40 30.21 70.21 Burnley
42 28.12 70.12 Blackpool
41 26.22 67.22 Derby
41 22.61 63.61 Brighton

And YES I do know that points don't come in decimals,
and I DO know that some clubs may improve, some may fall away,
and I DO know that the results of some six-pointers might alter the picture

But based on 21-Game form and WITHOUT sudden improvement due to signings
we are currently on-track for the top six (amazingly close to last year's position and points)

A few "notes"

Maybe Saints are getting their bad patch over now, but maybe they aren't!

Expect Birmingham to push for automatic, although they have to find 8 points which is a big ask.

Brighton's and Derby's current form is BETTER than their 21-game form would indicate.
They had their bad patches and may have turned a corner. If that stays true then expect them to be higher

Surprise, Surprise, the only side that (currently) is up there AND up there on current form is West Ham, looking like champions (sadly)

It looks like West Ham are going to win it but I have a feeling it could be a tight finish for second place this season with 5 or 6 clubs in with a chance.

We really need to win the next three relatively easy games to make sure we are in that group.

Just for the record

Last season played 27 games - points 41 - 8th place
This season played 27 games - points 42 - 8th place

However last season we then went DLLDD so if this time we could go say WWWDW this would put us a long way ahead year on year.

Was impressed with Leicester tonight even Mills had a good game. Birmingham have a stronger sqaud than us. I expect both of those to finish above us.
