Or the player who constantly makes runs to create space and take defenders out of position, from which someone else scores, gets no credit, whilst the two people who touched the ball last get all the credit.
Hilarious.
First, I have never denied the work of players who neither score or have assists.
Goalkeepers making saves for starters.
Goalkeepers dominating the area.
Goalkeepers acting as sweeper.
Goalkeepers "talking" and organising the defence.
Keepers with excellent distribution.
Defenders making important tackles.
Defenders "talking" and organising the defence.
Defenders covering their team-mates well and simply stopping the killer pass happening.
Defenders finding a fullback in space and doing a simple square ball.
Defenders finding the best midfielder or getting the winger away
Defender making sure they take the man too and make attackers less effective.
Defences playing the offside trap well.
Midfielders finding a great pass though not the final assist
Midfielders with masses of energy getting in the faces of the opposition
Midfield/forward team-work where it takes 2-3-4 challenges before the opposition loses the ball.
Wingers who have to be double-up on.
FBs overlapping even if they don't get the ball.
Forwards running defenders ragged. (And Church at his best is like Long in a very bad day)
Players who motivate their team-mates.
Defenders, midfielders. occasionally strikers who basically intimidate opponents.
