For me ambition is looking to improve at all times (happy for it to be tempered by what we can afford though).

Andrews would've improved our side and was available and probably within our budget HOWEVER, I do agree we have more pressing weaknesses in the side to address so this was probably not a player worth spending that budget on.

Shame as I think he'll prove to be a very good signing.

RUMOUR - Keith Andrews

by Basingstoke-Royal » 30 Jan 2012 21:42

According to reports in England Blackburn midfielder Keith Andrews has handed in a transfer request.

The out of favour Irish International, whose contract expires in the summer, spent the first half of the season with Ipswich, impressing with nine goals for Paul Jewell’s side.

Andrews is now back at Ewood Park but with Steve Kean freezing him out of the first team picture the 31 years old has taken matters into his hands and requested a transfer.

Ipswich are interested in taking the former MK Dons star back to Portman Road while reports emerging tonight suggests that Reading have also entered the fray

I wondered about the connection here

Roberts signs and then he asks to leave

However, he's cutting it fine

Would be an excellent signing. Exactly what we're missing in the middle; more creativity and goals.

Another example of Brian now.able to act on a target, or another example of lazy journalism linking players previously linked.

Irish. From a club we just took a player from. Free to leave....

Keith Andrews would be a good signing with proven ability at this level, giving us something different in midfield.

Wages may be a problem.

Would be a great signing - not too old and proven to be very good at this level.

Does anyone know how long Leigerwood is out for ? Maybe the injury he has looks more serious and Brian doesnt think that the answer is Tabb and Karacan. Otherwise he seems very much in the same mould as these three players, could understand it if it was a creative midfielder.

Would be a very good signing and a real possibility, or are we just getting linked with everyone at the moment?

Makes a change from being linked with pretty much no-one.

I bet virtually every agent is leaking to the press that we're 'interested' in their players to try and create an auction. Doubt that much is true...
