He looked lost as a RB, but not all CBs can do that job.

He looks a good prospect centrally and he looks like he'll be HUGE

You see his recent goal? Strong and brave.

melonhead in which case wouldnt be as hasty as hoop- for a cb who is yet to bulk out, i wouldnt be expecting Hector to tear up any league- imo its a specialist position and is all about experience
and as it is he has impressed hugely down there- many fans seem to think hes been their best player, so...

Agree brendy. A good example is Adam Lockwood, we let him go in the early 2000s i think, when we were in Division 2 and he's since become a Championship defender for Doncaster.

It wouldn't surprise me if the fans do consider Hector to be their best player. Not sure what its like now but Barnet's defensive record was excellent after his first month there, including cup games against L1 sides.

If these are the boy's first games he seems to be doing one very decent job

Since he started playing they are averaging almost 2 points per game and conceding
just 9 goals in 10 games (5 of those goals in just 2 games, 4 in the other 8 games with 4 clean sheets)

Played
90 Minutes 1-1 Away Wimbledon (15th)
45 Minutes 2-0 Away Bristol R (16th)
90 Minutes 2-1 Home Macclesfield (19th)
90 Minutes 2-2 Home Cheltenham (2nd)
90 Minutes 0-3 Away Dag & Red (22nd)
90 Minutes 0-1 Away Crawley (TOP)
90 Minutes 2-0 Home Bristol R (16th)
90 Minutes 3-0 Away Accrington (8th)
90 Minutes 2-1 Away Northampton (Bottom)
90 Minutes 2-0 Home Crewe (12th)

W6 D2 L2 16-9 19 Points from 10 Games = 1.9 ppg

FA-Cup

90 Minutes 1-3 Home MK Dons

I'm not writing the lad off, I just said that I'd trust the clubs judgement on this one and if he goes without us trying too hard to keep him then I wouldn't be too worried.

When I say he should be impressing more and being the outstanding player at that level I'm talking about if he's going to be the top end Championship/Premier League defender that we should now be aiming for. If you look at the majority of decent defenders at the top end of this league then they'll have been impressing at a higher level than he is now at a similar age. Take Pearce for example, he was getting games and good reviews at the league above at an earlier age.

As for Lockwood, he's had a decent career and is one of the very few you could perhaps say the club got wrong. Look at his career though and he had to drop way down the pyramid to get a game and then develop to be the player he is. I wouldn't say his level is where we're looking to aim for though either. He's a decent League One defender and I think excelled further down the leagues with Yeovil, but since Donny got into the Championship he's been a squad player in a poor Championship side.

like cox before him lockwood could have developed here into a decent player, but chose(and the club allowed him) to go down a league for league games, and for the benefit of their careers.fair enough all round i think-you cant let a player develop in the prem/championship as much, cos it will cost you games, and some players get the hump with continually being out on loan

Down a league?

He dropped to the Conference to get games. Even from League One where we were at the time he was here that's quite a significant drop, probably more in real terms than the 2 divisions it actually represents.

I don't think he'd have come good and progressed if he'd stayed here (and that's a similar story with Cox in some regards) but his isn't a story of someone who's done ok at a lower level on loan or as a great young prospect and then made it at Championship/Premier League level.

I still think Hector may have a bright future, I'm just of the opinion that if he's as good as made out by some on here then he'd be a bit more dominant at that level at this stage of his career.

im sorry i put A league instead of the leagues

you said letting lockwood go was a mistake. and now are saying that he probably would never have developed if he hadnt have left.

regarding hector- im happy that hes being classed as the teams best player by manydown there, since he is young, and in a very specialist/experience based position

I'm not judging his performances as such, just pointing out that the club will be well aware of what's going on and a few half decent peformances for Barnet doesn't really warrant the billing he's getting here as the next big thing.
