I've got a sneaky feeling that Hiddink will get it if 'Arry doesn't. I know they said they would prefer a Brit but this guy just fits the bill.

Hope Powell - Bernstein was very quick to change from "We'd favour an englishman" to "We'd favour an English or British person"

Would be mightily impressive if this were to happen, but it just wont.

They should just do it for the LOLz, she'd be no different to any other chump and JT would have to retire, for obvious reasons

What about Neil Warnock or Steve Bruce? Fat Sam even? I think it is fair to say that whoever is appointed will leave me feeling :|

With all the baggage Redknapp carries around, and the skeletons that are buried, I should imagine the last thing he should be thinking about is taking on one of the highest profile jobs in the sporting world. Also it's taken him a couple of decades and more to get this close to the top of the club management tree and the PL table - his popularity has never been higher and he's loving it. Why the hell would he want to give that up for the stresses and frustrations of international management?

I think he'll stay at Spurs.

In which case Hiddink for me.

I'm pretty sure the press have a whole file full of stuff on 'Arry.

If he takes the England job and then loses a couple of games they'll bring out the 'writes like a two-year old' and 'I'm not intelligent enough to run my own life' headlines, plus all the other stuff they've got readied.

If I were him I'd stick with Spurs.

Put money on Harry taking the England job everyone. Put your house on it.

All this clamour for Harry does very much put me in mind of Keegan's appointment to the job.

I can see where you're coming from, and the intrusion could be the only reason he's really turn it down, but I'd imagine that if he turned down the county after all the high praise from the media I reckon they'll declare open season on him anyway.

Another way to look at it is that he's spent all these years slowly working his way up the managerial ladder and now he's able to work with some of the best players in the world.

Why give that all up?

Because, as he's said in the past, managing your national team is the ultimate job.

Clubs come and go and I'm sure he's professed his love for all his clubs along the way, but there's an opportunity with England to be more reverred on a national scale than any club job can reward him with. It's the ultimate challenge really.
