Bookies just look at who is trending and then shorten the odds so more and more people think its true so more and more people whack more and more money on it.

Until a more credible source than Fordham publishes this story I am inclined to disbelieve it.

Stranger things have happened in football though.

It would be a big shame if it were true.

I'd guess that IF he has spoken to Wolves, he must have a clause in his contract allowing him to speak to any PL club coming in for him. I can't see SJM giving permission unless he knows Anton wants him out soon anyway.

If he goes, Roberts & Leigertwood as joint player-managers for the rest of the season IMO.

Yahoo Sport

Wolves are continuing their search to replace sacked manager Mick McCarthy with Reading's Brian McDermott emerging as a potential new candidate, Press Association Sport understands.

Steve Bruce has been the bookmakers' favourite for the past few days after the withdrawal of Alan Curbishley from the race.

But sources indicate McDermott is on the radar of Wolves owner Steve Morgan and chief executive Jez Moxey, although it is unclear whether they have yet firmed up their interest.

The former Arsenal player has moulded the Royals into a promotion chasing side in the npower Championship, despite the sale of striker Shane Long and defender Matt Mills last summer.

McDermott is also on a one-year rolling contract and therefore would not cost huge amounts in compensation if Wolves decide he is the person they want to pursue to succeed McCarthy.

Brighton boss Guy Poyet has also been linked as a possible candidate, although sources close to Wolves have played down the interest in the Uruguayan.

Wolves would also be looking at having to pay a substantial compensation bill as Poyet is less than a season into a five-year contract.

Former Sunderland boss Bruce was the bookmakers' favourites to take over from McCarthy, who was dismissed after a split boardroom vote last Monday.

But Bruce is still waiting to hear if and when he would be granted a second interview after holding initial talks on Friday with Morgan and Moxey.

It does now appear the search for a new manager may extend beyond Saturday's clash at Newcastle, the initial target set my Moxey a week ago.

Pass him most days on the way to the training ground. Almost crashed into his Merc this morning, as instead of turning left at the Sindlesham Mill roundabout as per normal, he went straight over, seemingly heading towards the Midlands.

Exactly - he has already admitted not knowing what the new owners have planned - for all we know they may have someone else lined up

Best we give it to him then

Can anyone see any reason why Brian would swap us for Wolves at the moment?

If he does go at least it would make Steve Bruce cry, which would be LOLz

Didn't he say he was with Coppell on preferring that as a contract?

I can't see it happening.

He's been at Reading for over 10 years, he's finally become first team coach and the season is looking promising.

Why would he trade that for a team that will probably get relegated in a few months.

Not sure but given the successful track record he's built up we've been fools not to offer him a longer deal

I will say this again...if SJM and the new pending owner let McDermott walk away at this point in the season, and jeopardizing it, with us sitting in 3rd with a very good shot at automatic promotion...I will take a much dimmer view of our potential future with the new owner.

I don't care who they get in, even Fergie, trying to get a new gaffer in at this point of the season will probably be disasterous. Trying to change the style of play, getting to know the personnel, etc. I will be really pissed if this goes down when we currently sit in 3rd place in the table. It would be amateur hour.

Unless Nigel Gibbs is offered the chance. He does all the shouting during games anyway
