Cypry I do wonder if the TSI takeover has hit a rocky patch....

SJM repeatedly talked about the deal not being signed, and how it's not guaranteed to happen, when interviewed on FLW Friday. IF that's the case the Brian might be sitting there thinking that if we don't go up, then there's still quite a high chance that he'll be back to square one this Summer, having to offload players etc.

I was at the stadium for a tour yesterday, whilst it may not mean an awful lot Anton was in the club shop and spent what must of been at-least £600 on shirts and merchandise, was smiles all round and was happy to pose for photos with fans.

Seal I like my job but occasionally I speak to competitors to see what they can offer and assess if I am being paid the market rate. This then assists me in any negotiations with my current employer re: pay rises and bonuses.

Nothing wrong with him speaking to them...especially with a new boss in town.

Spot on.Screw a new deal and why not?

Fordhams changed his story and says McDermott will be allowed to talk to wolves today, so he wasn't in talks last night. Frankly I think this is all trying to sell papers and Brian's not necessarily going to want th wolves job

i'd agree with you but it would have taken two seconds for the club to release a statement denying the speculation...

To allow McD to talk Wolves must have asked permission and the club agreed to McD going along

Cobi 14 pages because of something Jonny Fordham says, that he also ripped off of someone who tweeted him hours earlier and then deleted their message?

I think I'll just wait until Reading confirm one way or the other!

Sorry mate I actually started the thread because of something Ian Abrahams tweeted & later mentioned on TALKsport, nothing to do with Jonny Fordham..... but, as you say, I think I'll just wait until Reading confirm one way or the other as well!

There is a big difference in......

"McDermott has asked for permission to talk to Wolves'

'Wolves have asked for permission to talk to McDermott'

Why should the club respond every time Fordham makes up a story based on a tweet he's got/a thread he's read here? They'd have no time left for anything else

Not in the end result 90% of the time

Once a manager has "asked permission", he's effectively on borrowed time anyway

Sun report McDermott was in talks with Wolves last night. Must have hacked Fordham's phone I suppose.

Yes, I now think this all 80110X.

Whoever does take the job will be well satisfied at being at least 3rd choice!

Turned down by Curbs and Bruce so far.(reportedly)

Think it's a bit different when you've got national media outlets picking up on it and he's second favourite or outright favourite with the bookies. This isn't the same as denying something everytime we're linked with a loan move.

Cripple Creek I'm afraid I can think of any number of reasons why this may happen. Just for example, he in his very early 50s and it's possible not many chances will come up like this, he has been at Reading for years now and may fancy a change, I'm sure the money will be significantly better, he will get to test himself immediately against premier league teams (no guarantee at all Reading will go up this season - although I think we probably will) and, sadly, he may feel under appreciated. If the latter is the case there is nothing that makes one feel better than recognition which, let's face it, Brian deserves in abundance. I would be hugely disappointed if he goes but I hope Reading fans will understand his reasons and wish him well, after all he has shown immense loyalty to the club and his achievements here have been nothing short of miraculous. He deserves what ever his career brings him.

Sorry, but if he does go, how has he shown immense loyalty to the club?

This is the first time that another club has come sniffing, so as of yet his loyalty has not been questioned.

He's always talked about the fantastic spirit that this side has, he was given money to spend in January with the remit of finishing the job he's started. Time for Brian to repay the faith that we've shown in him.

Will be very disappointed if he leaves us at this stage of the season, and I will be hoping that Wolves are relegated. Mainly because it will show our current squad that the grass is not always greener on the other side (at Wolves).

You are aware that this is football aren't you?

Also what is it with "repaying the faith employers have in you" - they pay you for your "faith" every month so the balance book is even

I drove past at 5:30 this morning and he wasn't there then. So he's definitely off I'm afraid.

Yes I am, but thanks.

It would be the act of a mercenary, and Brian has always tried to portray himself as something other than that.

And FTR I think any employer would feel rightly peeved if they gave a guy a big promotion and then a couple of years later, when he's just a couple of months away from potentially fulfilling his objectives, he jumps ship.

Call me idealistic, but I have to say I hope McD is a little different to other people in football, it's why we're all so fond of him.
