If this is true can we finally put to bed all the 'special club' 'everyone wants to be here' nonsense that's always spouted by the PR team and admit it's all about the money, even for McD£rmott? Let's face it, if he wasn't given the big pay increase by the new owners he'd have ditched us like a shot for a brief stint in 'the promised land'.

Can't say I'm not disappointed, I thought better of him :(

You're disappointed that he has tried to get a better contract, after having worked bloody miracles with the squad since he got here - despite selling all our best players, he's still managed to get us in a play off final, the quarter final of the FA cup AND this season we're promotion contenders. Yeah. I can see why he would just want to stay on the same wages after all of that. Esp with potential new owners and not exactly 100% job security.

I will LOL if McDermott turns Wolves down.

'So Mr Bruce we would like to offer you the job being as our first choice didn't want it, second choice would sooner stop with Reading and our third choice cost too much compensation. You have our full support'.

Not saying that at all. But his time is over - the bloke has completely lost his hunger for it & you could see that in his last season. Thanks but no thanks.

tbh I was surprised a new contract wasn't negotiated for him in the summer

He's been on the same contract, doing an excellent job with the club, that he was given when he was an unproven manager.

I'd definitely use this as an opportunity to get more money where I a football manager.

Go on then, what did you expect him to do?

You cannot assume it is just about money - he might want to know he is valued and part of the new regimes plans. He has sounded less than positive about TSI in interviews and possibly thinks he could get us promoted and then paid off whilst a big name comes in.

In that case I think he has every right to look for a longer contract to make his efforts this season worthwhile. If it is not forthcoming he will know he is not valued and be off to Wolves if the chance is offered - and who could blame him.
