I'd just be really shocked if he chose to take a 13 week contract at Wolves over staying with us, at least until the end of the season. However, IF he took the Wolves job and he managed to keep them up, I'd expect him to get the job permanently. Maybe Wolves think he could bring out the best in Doyle and Hunt.

It will be a very sad loss if he does go. But, you can't blame him - we don't know what's been said behind the scenes. Maybe he knows that if he doesn't take us up this season, in spite of what TSI originally said, they'll get rid of him and bring in someone else. At least we won't be getting Warnock. For that we should be truly grateful. Nor can I see us promoting Dolan - although I notice he was interviewed this morning on Radio Berks and was saying the usual stuff about how great McD is, but I bet he's got one eye on the job. The next few weeks/months could be very exciting or very very sad imho.

As Dirk kept reminding us, be careful what you wish for. This TSI "takeover" might not come to fruition and we're back to selling off everyone or they do take over and don't keep to their word and Anton may wish to have more input than JM has ever wanted. It's going to be a tough ride.

Perhaps Brian's round Madejski's house until midnight and promising not go to Wolves and stay after shaking hands on the deal...

With the recent Russian element at the club our new chief of security Ivan says .......

" If he goes, he goes!"

In all seriousness don't go Brian!

Royal Lady On way home, BBC Berks said they had tried and failed to speak with RFC and WWFC - no-one would speak to them. Now, if nothing is going on, why on earth wouldn't RFC come out and say it's all rubbish - and why wouldn't McD tell the local media that he's not interested?

Exactly. Have to say I am a bit disappointed in Brian if this comes to fruition. He has finally started building something & fcuks off at the first opportunity despite clearly being backed in the Jan window.

Who do we go for then? My vote is Dolan - keep it in house.

Hypothetically, tomorrow, you are offered double your current salary with better job security, for a company in the same industry but with a bigger national profile.

What do you do?

Fans who expect Brian to have some 'loyalty' to Reading are deluded.

Nobody knows if it's just a 13 game gig though.

Hoop Blah I'd also be disappointed if McDermott leaves, but I can understand it.

The silence from the club is a worry though.

it's the silence that bothers me. with us in good form and a huge game on saturday, you would hope the club and also the manager would want to put these rumours to bed and not risk unsettling the squad. instead it's all quiet, and players today commenting this is the first they have heard of it, and so they now talk and the unsettling creeps in.

Well this is beginning to look like a done deal now isn't it. How very disappointing. Noted that the RFC media team have been very quiet with their usual John Craven's Newsround approach to RFC happenings, save an upate on Jem Karacan's birthday and the exciting news of a fund-raising night for the RFC chairball team on March 10th :|

No-one would have touched McD before RFC gave him a chance, given his track-record for failure in non-league football (ask Woking fans how highly they rate him). He has been backed 100% by the fans throughout, so to leave two-thirds of a way through a season is pretty contemptible and rates him alongside McGhee and Pardew for me if this deal is sewn up.

The future? May as well promote from within for the remainder of the season - Gibbs and Dolan together pehaps - to try and keep the momentum going, rather than bring in someone else with new ideas at this stage.

I'd back that management team and agree with your logic, but I wouldn't be at all surprised if Madejski contacted Steve Coppell. In fact I might see if I can place a bet on it.

Got to think that McD would want to take Gibbs with him though no?

I can understand him wanting to go, but there's a very real chance that Reading will go up this season and Wolves will go down.
