Uke This makes it sound like 2003 with us refusing permission to talk...

http://www.mirrorfootball.co.uk/news/Re ... 68250.html

Do we never learn?

To start with SJM is still chairman. The takeover does not happen to next month. Wasn't Nik Ive a Royals reporter with the evening post years ago?

well... at least when I've woken up he's still the manager, though the fact they now seem to want Hammond as well is annoying

Indeed he was, up until the end of 2008/09 iirc

It is still yesterday here... :D

Nothing like a unpleasant little new revelation to start the day off, huh?

IF that is true......IF......then at least AZ is showing Brian he wants him to stay......I know it hasn't gone through etc......So it is more than likely to be BS, but I just can't let go of these straws!

Traditionally, in this scenario, people would buy a newspaper to find out what's next. Instead, of course, we look at the website first.

The getreading website has nothing new, but there is no way I am picking up a Post on the way in to work, just to give money to an organisation that started the story in the first place. But I may stop in a shop and check the front or back page.

Do people really just think this is something invented by Jonny Fordham :|

If that was the case it would have been denied within minutes by the club, with a rival paper like the Chronicle or BBC Berks crowing about how McDermott has 'RUBBISHED' the rumours etc.

Jonny, like any journo, relies on having good relationships with the club and it's staff. I don't think the club would look very fondly on someone who just invents stories out of nowhere, particularly one given as much prominance as this one. If he'd just mentioned that McDermott had been mentioned by Wolves then fair enough it's a small story that the club might just shrug off if it's unture, but to say that he's gone for talks and to keep expanding/exploring the story would be madness if it was something made up.

That's three of the papers going with that story now! Good signs!

Well it seems most of the papers are going with he's staying and that leans towards a positive. Unless they're all wrong of course.

Good news. Hopefully the players haven't been unsettled by any of this and we can crack on and prepare for a huge game on Saturday.

The stories are saying we've refused permission for Wolves to speak to McD. Didn't stop West Ham/Pardew.

Direct quotes from McD: 0

Post says McD signed 3 and half year deal with front page pic of McD with what appears to be a huge turd on his head.

Well played Brian. Big bumper pay day and long-term security, financially at least.
