Maguire
Maguire Can't see it tbh, not the right move for him at the moment.

Get used to it though people - the more success RFC have, the more you'll see Brian linked to other jobs.

I'm sticking with this.

Just can't see it happening and also suspect that much of this noise is simply media-generated.

All's well that ends well. Wanted him to stay and also think he deserves the extension and pay hike. It gave us some unexpected drama and the traffic almost crashed the board. :D

Mind you I wouldn't want to go through this on a regular basis...

Royal Rother Yeah, but you've got to admit that watching the panic spread on this board has been quite fun - the use of words like "contemptible" to describe BM on the basis of Sweet FA have been pretty shameful, but nonetheless amusing.

Yawn @ your continued attempts to instigate a spat with me. I don't care what you think tbh, baldie*

*Brian, I am not talking about you.

melonhead RattLOLed

DefiniteLOLy rattLOLed. Rother has always had a cob on ever since I dragged up his 'Overreaction Thread' for the entirety of the relegation season. I wouldn't have dragged it up quite so much if he hadn't continually displayed such a sanctimonious attitude in his posts over the years.

Anyway:

floyd__streete No-one would have touched McD before RFC gave him a chance, given his track-record for failure in non-league football (ask Woking fans how highly they rate him). He has been backed 100% by the fans throughout, so to leave two-thirds of a way through a season is pretty contemptible and rates him alongside McGhee and Pardew for me if this deal is sewn up.

Note use of word IF there. Poorly written post in that I should have used the words 'would be pretty contemptible' rather than 'is pretty contemptible'. The only deal that has been sewn up - as correctly forecast by Soggy, one of the few who doubted the reliability of this folding story to actually put their neck on the line - is the 3.5 year contract, otherwise I pretty much stand by my thoughts that to go in these circumstances 'would be pretty contemptible'. He isn't going, so it isn't contemptible 8) . Even from the club's own press release it is clear there has been considerable interest, so to call this unfolding situation a 'hypothetical' is as wide of the mark as stating it seems a 'done deal'. A bit more communication from the club wouldn't hae gone amiss, but I guess thrashing out new contract details is a rather sensitive subject area for a pithy 140 character tweet.

Wolves fan: "According to SSN Wolves asked for permission to speak to McD although they didn't have too as he was on a rolling contract.
Reading didn't reply - Wolves never spoke to McD - Reading gave McD a new contract."

LOL...yeah we just didn't bother replying, saw who it was and didnt pick up.

just seen someone that looks very much like McDermott pulling onto the A404 at Burchetts Green towards High Wycombe, at some speed too. Probably on his his way to the M40 northbound.

I could/should have been more succint really:

I was wrong to say it looked like a done deal.
I was not wrong - imo - to say it would have been contemptible to walk out in those circumstances.

this has been great PR for the club ... in that BM is being seen as a potential Prem level manager, and with him now staying, that can only help the club attract top players to the club ..
