i think it's safe to say brian mcdermott's judgement is far greater than that of yours or ours; so if he wants mullins, brilliant!

Our style is to play with two defensive midfielders. What happens if one gets injured ?
Changing the style is clearly not McD's first choice

Mullins would be a fantastic signing at this stage of the season

Not quite as good as Karacan, Leigertwood, Tabb, Bryn or Howard but I guess he'd be ok as 6th choice.

Just what we need.

Seeing the shift that both Jem and Ledge are currently putting in match after match atm, signing Mullins would really compliment the squad imo...he has always been great at breaking things up in the midfield and will provide us with a like for like replacement for either jem or ledge, should either of them pick up an injury...and before anyone says we have Tabb...although he is a good player he lacks a 'presence' in the middle of the park which Mullins does have..

Another astute signing from McD...if true..

Before TSI I doubt we'd have had the money to pay his wages. Good, solid signing if true.

Pompey fans don't rate him and describe him similar to how we used to describe Harps when he was on his way out (points a lot and lots of side ward passes) For that reason, i'm out!

At the end of the day I'm sure Brian McDermott has a better handle on what the squad needs than anyone on this board.

Loan move could work well, don't think it'd do us any harm at all.

We were appalling in cm with tabb and karacan. Leigertwood and Karacan were fantastic yesterday, so Mullins would be a better reserve. Harsh on tabb but he's not the right replacement for legs. Why not take Mullins for 6 weeks wages to cover our promotion run in.

Funny how everyone wants pompeys players yet theyve been poor as a team. Can't help think its the fa subtly keeping them going by whoring their players around.

absolutely agreed. if anything happens to legs or karacan, or even both then we are knackered. mullins would give us suitable back-up, and also push both of them for a starting place; whereas i don't think tabb is able to do that. he is just back-up.

Willing to retract my earlier comments ( hells frozen over) and say that after reading some of the comments on here and having a less reactionary impulse to it...he would definitely be a good addition. If we get injuries he's had a lot of game time this season and could slot right in, experienced player...could definitely use him for the play-offs.

yeah, cant see why we would want a player who is like 1/2 of our most succesful midfield ever.
even when he was at his worst, harps woul dkeep th eball, move it around, & stretch the opposition.
plus every team needs a world class pointer

id take mullins as back up, and you know what brians like- wouldnt bring him in if he didnt rate him, wouldnt rate him if he was rubbish, and is guaranteed to get the very best out of him either way

I trust McD's judgement, especially after Jason Roberts.

I'd take Mullins on loan to give us more depth in midfield. Howard's not in the frame and I think he'd add more than Tabb. Gunnarsson isn't really up to standard to be anything other than dire emergency cover in midfield IMO. Useful to have with quite a few games coming in quick succession.

Mullins is just the sort of short term investment we need to make.

A very experienced player who has played in the premiership and in a cup final. Mullins can play midfield or across tha back in defence so is excellent all round cover. It could be that Connolly is out for longer than we think in which case we need back up.

Mullins is out of contract in the summer so if the loan proved successful we would be well placed to offer a contract.
