What a load of rubbish. They aren't even the 8th best side in Europe at the moment. It's about the now, not yesteryear!

Is the team that wins the FA Cup better than the team that wins the Premier League title? Of course not. A series of one-off games is nothing compared to the demands of a 38 game season. The only way that Chelsea, or anyone else can claim to be the 4th best team in Europe would be if there was a true Champions League involving 38 games per team in a season.

Well, you claimed Chelsea were one of the best four teams in Europe. So how good they are right now is really the issue. If someone had said that Liverpool are one of the best teams in Europe, then no, the fact that they were ace thirty-odd years ago wouldn't really redeem that claim.

Making reference to United's league titles and Liverpool's European Cups is as pointless. What are you trying to say? Trophies won doesn't reflect how good a side is this season, unless of course a trophy was won this season. Past success is exactly that.

For current ranking of teams quality? Hell yes.

The question wasn't who is the historically biggest or most successful team in Europe. If it was Chelsea wouldn't make the top 20 let alone top 3.
