Speculation: Fabio da Silva

BBC Sport Full-back Fabio Da Silva will leave Manchester United on loan next season, manager Sir Alex Ferguson has revealed.
The 21-year-old Brazilian has made one Premier League appearance in 2012 despite starting last year's Champions League final defeat by Barcelona.
"He understands the value of playing regularly at a higher level than we can give him at the moment," the Scottish manager told United Review.
"I hope that Fabio will develop the same way as his twin [Rafael]."
Patrice Evra has blocked the Brazil international's route to the first-team, and he has also suffered a number of injuries.
Fabio has been a regular in the club's reserves in recent weeks, while the majority of the 14 appearances he made for the senior side before Christmas came in the Carling Cup and Champions League.

With Harte out of contract in the summer and Mills/Harte probably not good enough to make the step up (IF we go up...) he could be an option? I think left-back will be the position we're most looking to strengthen this summer and Fabio would be a very good signing IMO

Think we should sign Harte on a new contract still tho, but could be a good move.

I think MUST HAVE signings if we go up are a left back, centre mid and striker that can play week in week out, first team players. Fabio would indeed fit the billing for the LB position. I say go for it. Needless to say i cant see it happening though

Worth adding that McDermott has been speaking to Alex Ferguson recently for a little advice etc.

United are also trialling two of our youngsters (Jake cooper & Aaron Tshibola), so it's plausible we may have expressed an interest for one of his players on loan next season... Pure speculation of course.

Fabio at right back, Bertrand at left back. Simples.

Fabio would be a very good loan signing. Which is his natural position, RB or LB? I can't remember.

Yeah I think he's a LB basically just so that both he and Rafael could get in the team! He's right-footed anyway

He'd be a smart addition whichever side we played him on really, from what I've seen from him he seems to have decent pace and is comfortable with the ball at his feet, Harte is clearly not the quickest while I still think Cummings is a little shaky with the ball at his feet, despite his vast improvement over the past season.

As soon as I heard this on the radio this morning I though he could tick the box for joining us!

We'll have to wait and see but I'd welcome him with open arms. My only concern would be would his attitude (hot head) be a 'typical' Reading signing??

Thinking about this for a bit and I don't think it would work out. We've seen even English players struggle to adapt to living in the south and with both Fabio and Rafael often saying they are inseperable and do everything together, the move down here could be too big an upheaval. I don't think his English is great either and I'm not sure we have any Portuguese speakers at the club.

They both speak very good English.

This is the exact kind of signing we need to make if we go up.

I'm sure he speaks good English, he's young and wants to play. He would add pace to our team and he'd get Premier League experience. SIGN HIM UP!
