M4 - A Corridor of Premier League Football?

I was thinking last evening that the West Ham fans must be slinking back from Bristol, either on the M4 or through Reading Station. As their game finished 15 minutes before ours, they must have been coming through about the time Reading's promotion celebrations were going on, although I guess many of them left Ashton Gate early when their bubbles ran out. Did anyone see any of them?

Last season three out of four Championship playoff contenders - Reading, Cardiff and Swansea - were all from the M4 corridor. If Cardiff win the playoffs this year there will be three Premier League teams on the motorway.

It amazes me that no Russian oligarch has seen the potential of Bristol City. A city the size of Bristol should have a Premier League team and a decent stadium. Maybe it will happen one day soon, so there would be four in the corridor.

Then it only needs a charge from Brentford to make it five.......

Didn't see any Hammers after the game but did have some fun with one on the M4 on the way to it.

I doubt he was going to watch them though or he'd probably have got there a bit late.

I was at Ashton Gate last night (yes, missing THE Promo Party as I feared I would). The Hammers' fans were extremely quiet, only raising their voices when they lead very briefly. I have to say the Bristol City fans were awesome though, it was a great atmosphere... the best song was "we'll be seeing you all next year!" Mind you, every other chant was taking the pi$$ out of Nicky Maynard!! They certainly have Premier league fans.. but, as discussed many times in various threads on HNA, there is something to be said about the old style stadia creating a better environment. I fear a new stadium for Bristol is still a few years off (the planning decision has gone for another judicial review - they are even talking about breaking Brighton's record of waiting 11 years). They don’t need a friendly Russian though as Steve Lansdowne, their Chairman, owns most of Bristol already…

By-the-by, I bumped into Scott Murray last night and we had a great reminisce of his time at RFC.. he wishes us all the best

Indeed they have "been given the nod"... just as City's stadium was "given the nod" over 2 years ago... watch out for the 'village green' lovers moving from Long Ashton to Stoke Gifford!!! It will be a close race to see who plays in their new stadium first. Incidentally, the Rovers' new gaff will be shared with Bristol Rugby, as the Memorial Ground is now, and a main benefactor of Bristol Rugby... a certain Mr Steve Lansdowne... conflict of interest anyone?
