Speculation - Jay Rodriguez

by loyalroyal4life » 01 May 2012 13:36

Wouldn't say no if it did materialise, offer church and some £££

Jay Rodriguez admits he does not know what the future holds for him with Norwich, Reading and Celtic all being linked to the Burnley youngster.

The 22-year-old has just one year left to run on his current deal at Turf Moor and the Clarets look set to cash in on their 21-goal striker this summer.

Burnley rejected bids from both Newcastle and Southampton in the past and although the Lancashire club snubbed their offers, boss Eddie Howe admits it may be hard to keep the hitman.

Norwich, Reading and Scottish Premier League champions Celtic are also thought to be monitoring the situation.

The former England Under-21 player told the club's official website: "I don't think anything of the speculation. You hear things but I don't really listen to them because there's nothing I can do.

"I'm still a Burnley player, I'm still contracted, so I'll look forward to a nice break over the summer, then working hard and getting myself fit.

"We'll see what happens, I hit the targets that I wanted to hit from last year.

"It's a dream for me to get 21 goals for the season."

Rodriguez, who picked up the players' player of the year prize was thankful to the home fans for the warm applause he received after coming on as a second half substitute during their 1-1 draw at home to Bristol City on Saturday following eight games out with a groin injury.

"It's one of the best feelings in the world when you hear them singing your song. You can't describe how good it is," he said.

"It's a feeling I thought I'd never get but I'm happy that it's happene
d."

Do you disagree then?

Having seen him play against Reading a number of times, and obviously bits on the telly, I'd totally agree the lads got something pretty special about him. I'd love him to be the one to replace Church in our squad for next season.

On 9 August 2011, Long signed for Premier League side West Bromwich Albion on a three-year deal, with a further year’s option.[32] Although the fee was undisclosed, it is believed to be £4.5m, with add-ons that could eventually rise to £6.5m

So as i said, it could be a deal worth up to £8m

Sir John Madejski: "All this talk about how much money we got for him is a load of baloney. We didn’t get anything quite like that at the end of the day. I’m not allowed to say how much we got because of contractual reasons, but it’s nowhere near the figures being banded about in the newspapers and the media."

"Where's all the money gone" would have been the cry (again)

He was pretty honest about how much we got for Gylfi wasn't he... he's never denied that was circa £7m. He's not come out denying the amounts for Kitson, Sonko, Shorey, Doyle, Bikey etc etc.

When it comes to trustworthyness SJM>>>>>>>>newspapers.
