Tbf Man Utd have done really well to hang in there for so long.
With Jones and Smalling still very raw,Evans generally a handicap, the keeper shaky early on,Vidic injured,Schloes only playing for part of a season they still finish miles ahead of pretenders like Arsenal and Spurs-the same Spurs that idiots were suggesting in January could/would actually be Champions.
Man Utd have won quite a few games by the odd goal but fell short and in fact were rather embarrassing in the two games v City who have shown that they got a bit too casual mid-season and but for that might have won the league by a good ten points or so as at times they have been so far ahead of the rest.

I dislike Man Utd with a vengeance but respect how well they have done where IMHO they have won games when the opposition have been too scared to have a real go at them and whereas they may have tonked the 3rd(or 4th) placed team 8-2 they have also been stuffed 6-1 at home, been humiliated in the Champions League and Europa League and conceded 4 at home to Everton of all people,a result that seems to have put paid to their chances of winning the league.

With Marauding Dog and Kes we have two totally blinkered followers of other clubs but at least The Dog goes to games and I for one hope that he continues to post on here in the General Football section.

Absolutely agreed. Shameful that so many left before the lap of honour - SAF and the players have done an excellent job in the league this year (not so much in Europe!). Particularly after the loss of Vidic, to turn that points deficit into an 8-point lead was impressive.

we all know united have the god given right to win every trophy they contest, there could be rivers of tears in Surrey and Cornwall next week when United suffer a season with no silvewear.

There were rivers of tears there last night after the FA Cup final. So many Liverpool fans about yesterday without Scouse accents.

As much as I hate Man Utd seeing a kid in my local park wearing a Man City shirt was a depresing sight. Bad enough when you see kids wearing Utd Arsenal Chelsea shirts we now have another monster taking away potential future Reading fans. I blame the parents.

LOL @ TMD moaning on twitter about City probably winning the league only because they've spent so much money! Didn't used to bother him when Man Utd were the biggest spenders, did it!

If it wasn't Man City, that kid would be wearing another "big 4" shirt.

When children only want to follow "a big successful club off the telly", the number of big clubs available doesn't really matter (although you do have to wonder why kids still support Liverpool these days).

There's a huge difference between having a loyal fan base that pumps money into the club and having a rich owner and 20,000 loyal fans. Surely even you can see this?

Swap owners and City would die.

TBF TMD has a point.

There is.a big difference in my mind between clubs like Man Utd, Liverpool and Arsensl who have built success and generated revenue and clubs like Man City and Chelsea who are benefitting from a rich sugar daddy.

I said a couple of years ago that when City win the league i cannot see how their fans can take any pleasure from it.
