SPECULATION - Sylvan Ebanks-Blake

by Mr Angry » 17 May 2012 08:09

One player who I think might be able to do a job for us is Sylvan Ebanks Blake, who I think is a younger version of Roberts; I can't imagine he would fancy staying at Wolves, and that Doyle/SHunt etc would have said good things about us.

I've always rated him, but it sounds like they have a job on their hands to keep Doyle and Fletcher, so SEB suddenly becomes very important again to them. I couldn't see them selling all three.

There many strikers at Wolves I'd take ahead of him and I think he'll be pretty useful to them in the Championship.

Has potential but couldn't get regular game time for a struggling Wolves team, for that reason I'm out.

They'll be looking to him next season so doubt they'll sell him

Bit of a different scenario in that Roberts has proven himself over many years and brings more to the team than just goals. I beleive there were also problems with regards to Roberts being entitled a contract if he'd played a few more games, though could be wrong on that one.

Ebanks-Blake has had 3 years to establish himself at a Premier League club of similar stature to what we'll be next season, and he's managed 10 league goals in around 75 games, that fact he's not even a first team regular rings alarm bells, yet alone a pretty terrible goalscoring record.

Like I said, he's got potential but why would you go for a 26 year-old Ebanks-Blake with that sort of scoring record when money could be spent on a more proven goalscorer or younger player with potential?

Not every player not in their Premier League team is going to turn into a Jason Roberts and it's also worth remembering that Roberts still has to prove himself again at a higher level next season.

I've never thought of Roberts and Ebanks-Blake as similar players. Maybe I've never really paid enough attention to his style of play but he's not a players I'd be looking to add to a Premier League squad.

If we were in the Championship then yes, he'd be an excellent signing. In the Premier League, nah, can't see him being worth a punt.

The guy is sh/te. Got on the radar a few seasons back by taking a bunch of penalties. Isn't even Wolves best striker, and look which direction they are heading.
