Actually lost what little respect I had for Wigan in that....and I oxf*rd hate Wolves

When Reading have gone down, or sent someone down, there's been commiserations etc.

Fans gathered in front of a line of stewards on their own ground chanting 'We are staying up' is just a bit oxf*rd wrong.

I remember at the play off semi, plenty of the local brain donors, none of them a day over 12, congregating in front of the away side and lobbing golf balls into the stand. Never liked Wigan since.

You stood at the front "row" of the shelf for years, and never once noticed that not only did the wall in front of you drop straight down to the terracing below, but also failed to notice that a lateral gangway separated that wall from the back of the terrace in front?

The "phenomenon" of not being able to see the fans at the back on the tier in front would be that staggering concept of the shelf being raised several feet above - but not over the top of - the terrace below.

so the front of the shelf does not overhang the rear of the terracing below?

No.

http://www.mehstg.com/faqs.htm

What is "The Shelf" ?

The Old East Stand (prior to the new one being built in 1989) contained two tiers of terracing with one tier of seating above.

The seating back then was like the current East Stand Upper and the lower tier of terracing equates to the Lower East Stand these days.

The upper tier of terracing, that ran from a wooden fence at the front and back under the seating, was called "The Shelf". It nowadays would be where the executive boxes are and the seating for the "Legends" area is (i.e. the seats directly in front of the boxes).

The Shelf was where the most vociferous fans gathered and the singing from that area was very loud as it reverberated off the underside of the upper tier. Standing on The Shelf it gave one of the most magnificent views of the pitch in all England and it was a sad day when they decided to do away with it to redesign the stand.

At the Park Lane end, there was one part sectioned off with metal fencing and this became known as "The Cage", where some of the more raucous Spurs fans gathered as they overlooked the away end, which was the Park Lane in those days.

OK, I take it back. What frimmers actually doesn't know is what "overhang" means.

No.

Clearly, rather than admit he was mistaken, he wants to play another game of "guess my bollocks", where people have to try and use a multitude of questions to try and guess the complete bollocks of a point that he pretends to have.

I really don't think frimley's ever been to White Hart Lane, or at least certainly hasn't stood where he claimed to, or he wouldn't have made such a mistake.

I don't know why people respond to the troll that is Frimmers; the first person I ever put on ignore, a decision which has enriched my HNA? life.

Frimmers is conspicuous by his absence on this thread now. Obviously fearful of more shelf-abuse

No doubt he'll be back later with more obtuse back-pedalling, but he was out lats night on the beers and is suffering today from a frightful over-hang.

Top twelve rows of the new stand you can't see half the pitch!

It's OK. I've hear they're going to remove the roof on the stand to the left and let the away supporters sit in it.
